notes

Stay Tuned, the self-proclaimed Ultimate Television Rock Experience, was formed over 3 years ago by lead singer and keyboardist Matt Krahlman. His vision of rearranging the influential television themes of his youth into a completely different context became a reality when drummer / vocalist Fred Donaldson and bassist / vocalist Randy Williams joined Matt for their first rehearsal in a small practice studio just south of Safeco Field. Since then, the band has been musically inseparable and has delighted audiences and fellow musicians alike with a musical experience that can only be described as "... like sausage...".

Their onstage energy coupled with the emotional connection that audiences have with their eclectic collection of musical material have earned Stay Tuned a growing reputation as one of the NorthWest's premier acts. In addition to performing to enthusiastic crowds up and down the coast, they have been featured on both The BJ Shea Experience and The Freakshow with Ronny T on 100.7 The Buzz in Seattle, and were nominated for the 2005 and 2006 Seattle Weekly Music Award for Best Tribute Act. Ian "Prime Time" Sterling of KBSG in Seattle has said about Stay Tuned, "If you get enough (Jaegermeister) shots down ya ... this would be the best band you've ever heard.".

  • GI Joe-ness
    author: Rossco

This cd rocks. I have to say that G.I. Joe is the bomb. Don't believe me, listen to it for yourself. Love these guys!

  • Original arrangements wrapped around a familiar theme...yum!
    author: Karen

Stay Tuned is a high-energy trio whose sound belies the size of the group. Led by Matt Krahlman on keyboards and keytar (!!!) the band powers its way through songs whose merit you’d never expect. Their spirit pays homage to bands as wide-ranging as Rush, Nirvana, Metallica and Yes, creating musical rollercoaster rides that are unique and exhiliarating. Who knew that the theme song to that pinnacle of 80s television, “Charles in Charge,” was so very catchy? From the first bars, “The Jeffersons” takes us back to those happy evenings on the couch, watching Sherman Helmsley bounce off the walls. The band’s playful reworkings of such classics as “G.I. Joe” and “Silver Spoons” make us realize that those were the golden years of T.V. show themes, a previously untapped genre of material whose tribute by Stay Tuned is richly deserved.

  • very cool

Deducted a star for Mr. Rogers in the first slot. I'm not drunk enough to really appreciate it at first position. Otherwise this cd is very bad ass. Don't expect cheesy comedy remakes of old tv themes. Oh no. These guys rock out (or reggae out) these songs, in some cases remaking them completely (like Silver Spoons). They even get creative and throw in classic tunes in the middle (GI Joe has Wayward Son by Kansas suddenly, and it makes total sense.) Must hear.

  • Wow

Really good stuff and well-produced. Worth the money. I'd love to see them live.

  • Quite Possibly....Perfection
    author: Zach Hayes

That's right, if you love TV, you'll love these guys. They are the perfect tribute band. They stay true to TV's classics, giving them that fresh sound you've always wished for. Whether it's the rhythmic cowbell in "Rawhide" or the insane keyboard solo in "Charles in Charge", Stay Tuned will leave your ears in a state of awe that can only be compared to viewing Matt Krahlman's manhood.

  • Only bratwurst is better...
    author: Anthony Lanni

Wow. Amazing. 'like sausage' is exactly right - only bratwurst is better. I'm not sure what category this falls into - rock tribute? parody? the song arrangements are well crafted, and the lyrics - well known as they are - take on a new life thanks to the diamond-in-the-rough vocal gyrations of Matt Krahlman and - as lead on a couple of tracks - Fred Donaldson. A worthy addition to any serious music (or television!) fan's collection, right next to Pat Boone's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and the soundtrack from "Better off Dead".
