notes
Stavia's first album, The Way You Are, brought her critical acclaim, and was featured in the UK on national radio - BBC Radio 2, radio 4, radio 5 live, and many other regional shows.
Stavia's music is hard to pigeon hole and crosses many genres. It is lyrically engaging and thought provoking whilst melodically and musically it is an eclectic mix ranging from folk-influenced guitar and piano songs to catchy pop and more raunchy rock songs. The sad but un-sentimental 'Listen' - the last song on the album - constrasts with the up-beat feel-good pop tones of 'You Make Me Feel' whilst the rocky 'Dangerous' - about being led astray - provides enough variety to keep you entertained for a long while.
Stavia plays piano, guitar and harmonica and has a 4 piece band - Grant jamieson on lead guitar, Andy Coughlan on bass, Rob Fergus Smith on drums. And for more info on this singer-songwriter's unusual background, check out her website.

This album should instantly resonant with anyone who has ever lived and loved
author: Amazon Reviews: March 2005This is, quite honestly, an amazing album. Hauntingly melodic and ethereally evocative , it should instantly resonant with anyone who has ever lived and loved. …..Imagine a mix of Janis Ian, Carly Simon, Liza Minnelli and a bit of Nico (along with some Kings of Convenience) all in one. But then again, don't bother trying to imagine what this is like, because you can't. It's almost unimagineably wonderful . If you have ever been sad and confused, blue and bruised, falling in love or falling out of love, then these songs help make sense of it all....make it not just bearable but also somehow beautiful. Be prepared for these numbers to pop up in your head time after time...after time. They are so addictive they should be available as an injection’.- Amazon Reviews: March 2005
A truly beautiful album
author: Richard Garfield, Basingstoke GazetteThis is a truly beautiful album put together by a very talented singer-songwriter. She has a haunting voice and sings with sincerity throughout. But there is more to Stavia ……she is also a neurologist and has an interesting background - which could account for some of the exotic melodies you’ll find in her work…… all of this has had an influence which comes out in her music and lyrics. This album should have a wide appeal, especially for those who like folk and melodic rock.
