notes
The story and sound of Status Green began long before the bands formation, in 2005. In some ways Status Green was born into something brewing some fifty years in the making. Growing up in New Jersey to a healthy soundtrack of classic rock and left to spend their adolescence in the windy valley of influence that lies between New York City and Asbury Park, the end result couldn't be more fitting. One part the glory days of the E Street Band and another part the poppy fuzz of Blondie, one can't help but be reminded of the often overlooked yet wildly influential moments in music history when the filth and fury of rock and roll made for strange bedfellows with the sights and sounds of pop. It is these recurring scenes and sounds that shape Status Green. So yes, Status Green began in 2005.
Like all classic Rock & Roll folk tales, Status Green formed from a drug induced summer full of daydreams and motorcycle diaries. Lou Montesano returned home from his travels inspired and went right to work, rallying his childhood friends around some very big ideas and at that time, some very small songs.
Left to cut their teeth without the benefit of a scene with which they neatly fit, Status Green had to rely on the work ethic they were raised with, playing shows up and down the East Coast on their own terms. It wasn't long before they began to see that they were on to something, that something was happening. In three short years, Status
Green came from local obscurity to sell out The Stone Pony and the now defunct CBGB's. The band recorded and self released their first album, selling over three thousand copies with the vast majority being at live shows. To the delight of their hometown the band opened for Bon Jovi after winning a tri state listener poll on 95.5 WPLJ. By any measure, the band's independent release has been a rave success, not to mention, the enthusiastic response the band receives on Yahoo Music, several commercial rock and alternative radio stations, and the licensing of their music to the TV show, Guiding Light.
Status Green are currently writing and recording when not on the road. The world is about to hear a lot more from Status Green. If the last three years have shown us anything it is evident that Status Green will not be waiting for the world to come to them.

This is what Rock and Roll is all about
author: AnneI have to say - I haven't been this excited about a new cd in a long time! I love this music. It has all the elements of rock and roll and pure fun! The musicianship is outstanding. Lou M. is genius. I feel shades of (dare I say) Beatles, Beach Boys, Romantics, and James Bond! Good Times, Good Times.

my favorite cd
author: JessicaI first heard them in Manasquan when I got a free CD and listened to them everyday since and was lucky enough to get the whole cd which was even better than I expected. They are a great band and my 3 year old son loves them too!
Just a solid album that delivers
author: JulianIt doesn't leave my disc rotation... definately a solid album. Elvis Costello meets the beach boys who got drunk with weezer at the Cavern Club. I think that sums it up pretty accurately.
Wicked Fun Rock Music
author: NJ Beach BumFrom the beginning through the end its just good fun rock and roll. Makes you wanna strap a surfboard to the top of your woodie and ride right to the beach. It somes up that beach front living. Amazing CD if you don't own it you are seriously missing out on one of the best CD's of our generation.

Great Beat!
author: Joan PellegriniI loved the CD. I'm in my fifties and it sounds like some of the music that I liked from the 1960's.

FUll of energy and good natured spoofing
author: mdmphdWasn't sure what to expect but I've been obsessing on a few tracks, playing them over and over. There's a dirty party garage band feel about some of it, with overmiking nods to beach party songs and punk from the 80s and, one of my favorites, the pomposity of certain 60s songs (The Elephant Song)that used excessive sound efx. The Elephant Song is very, very catchy and would be top 20 in 1968 - I think the beach song would've gotten into the Top 40 so they're writing danceable, listenable music. I'm definitely coming back for Greatest Hits Vol 2:>

Keep The Status High Fellows
author: Linda MariaStatus Green has no where to go but up in the music industry. Status Green is one of the most fun loving bands that has visited our music world in decades. The fans, young and old cannot get enough of Status Green. The lyrics come from the heart of the writer with twists of fate and wants of life. Status Greens Greatest Hits is just that a CD of hits that will make you sing along after the very first song is heard. Keep the Status high fellows and thank you for your music.
It Rocks!
author: DebbieI listen to it everyday. It really keeps me moving during the day. I highly recomment it to all... My son loves dancing to it.
Phil Spector seriously missed out.
author: BillIf Phil Spector was not awaiting trial for murder, there is a good chance that he would be considering an attempt to produce Status Green. I do not know this from fact, but rather that Status Green's Greatest Hits Volume 1 has picked up where he has left off. The Wall of Sound, the White Album, and even the Ramones have contributed to the inspirations of this album. Greatest Hits Volume 1 is clearly a throw-back to an era when music was ruled by talent and expression. This CD will leave you filled with good emotions, except for one, becasue you will be sad that it is over; roughly 53 minutes of play time is not enough. Bruce Springstein better watch out, the new kings of New Jersey are on their way for his thrown, and isn't it funny that they hail from the same city? Image the White Album carnival feel, then imagine it being brought into the new millenium. Get this CD!
