Power-pop trio from the shores of Santa Monica. Reved up guitars and well beaten drums drive home hooks that should be living on the jukebox in Stacy's mom's house. Brian Wilson, are you out there?

notes
Power-pop blasts of distorted catchy tunes that are influenced by all the best Beatles imitators. Why not add hooks to those cool guitar sounds? And why do all those catchy songs sound so lame? Hey, there's peanut butter in my chocolate! Wait a minute...mmm...yummy.
Singer-guitarist Martin Blasick has been writing songs for movies for some time. Lindsey Lohan sang one in Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen. OK, maybe it wasn't Citizen Kane, but it was fun. But, all that movie stuff can't take the place of strapping on a sparkly gold guitar and cranking it up!!!
Mark Prudeaux plays bass and sings harmony. Kevin Darish pounds the drums and sings harmony. It's like a jacked up Beach Boys. California living at its finest. Statica plays all the worst stages in the scariest parts of town.

If Guided By Voices played songs like The Ramones
author: Patty Hearst / BlastitudeTo their credit, they do label this album as power pop on a sticker, which will not mislead anyone. Lead singer Martin Blasick has a voice like a young Robert Pollard! If Guided By Voices played songs like The Ramones which would be about what it would sound like, also, Pollard would have to be on prozac to produce this result. Should they go on a month long drinking bender? A keg on stage per show across the country? Then they could be Guided by Voices Part II and it would be awesome! As it is, they’re very talented and awesome musicians, who will definitely be around in the future.
Statica down a road of powerpop harmonies and catchy melodies
author: Shredding PaperStatica – s/t CD 14/45:39 Martin Blasick leads Statica down a road of powerpop harmonies and catchy melodies. And while it’s all pretty sweet, it’s not sickeningly so (e.g., The Rembrandts). In fact, Martin’s voice sounds a bit like Bob Mould’s, just a bit more straight-laced. This is especially true on their cover of “The Morning After” (the theme from “The Poseidon Adventure”). Their press describes them as a mixture of the Raspberries, Beach Boys and Big Star. Sure, why not, ‘cause they would have fit well into the pop scene of the early ‘70s, alongside Bread and maybe the Buckinghams. Either way, this trio is sort of the equivalent of comfort food with a bit of bite. No threats here, just harmonious down-home listening. RBF
Statica comes straight out of the Matthew Sweet/Weezer world
author: Mark PrindleThe indie rock/power pop sound of Statica comes straight out of the Matthew Sweet/Weezer world of Guy-Next-Door singing fuzzy warm anthems of longing and girls over heavy distorted midtempo rock activity. Futuristic phaser effects and kitschy `60s keyboard tones bring further color to what is already an exceptionally warm tone, both in terms of songwriting and production. They're from California and this is their debut CD.
I would not have expected this CD in my life time
author: Moloko Plus (10/2004)(Tranlated from German) For once, this is a pleasant surprise. Mostly I recieved average or even shit and I must buy the good records myself. I would not have expected this CD in my life time, I am also not sure whether it is available in Germany. It has really great pop songs like "Closer to you" There is also energy, that songs like "All of my money" or "Carry my amp" prove. No, really, a wonderful CD, Great job. -tb
Nice softer Powerpop, that you can sweeten your Breakfast with.
author: 3rd Generation Nation (Oct 2004)(Translated From German) Nice softer Powerpop, that you can sweeten your Breakfast with. There are a few electro sounds interspersed that reflects the cover and gladly reminds me of RoXyEpoXie, You know. That Sweetish-Melancholy sound that I still enjoy to this day. Today I will be picking up Social Distortions "ANOTHER STATE OF MIND" DVD from the store. YES!!! Until then, I'll spend the next three-quarters of an hour listening to clean Powerpop and I'll be enjoying my breakfast with some light catchy melodies. The singer sometimes has a slight UDO LINDENBERG Touch, with some Britpop influenced sounds which does not hurt, however. Yes, I do enjoy listening to this disk already and I assume that it will still grow on me the more I hear it. Now, I'm going to shower and think, Everything has it's faults. Autumn came and it fits, Doesn't it? Soft-Dreamin'-Relaxin'-mood music with an electro Touch and clear singin'. -A. Flexibel
catchy '77 tunes and a pinch Indie rock.
author: Moloko Plus FanzineNice American Power pop, out of Los Angeles and has that LA sound and feel, like a Cruise on the Highway with the wind in your face. The press release I read talked about "Beach Boy harmonies," I did not notice this at first, but yes, it does have them mixed simply with catchy '77 tunes and a pinch Indie rock. Therefore not the typical LA-Punk, but more like the typical West-Coast-feel-good-sound. -A.S.
Statica's good time groove goes down smooth
author: Skratch issue 104 - Matthew SibloBy the look of the insert's retro-looking space girl, I knew that STATICA would be filled with spacey keyboards, good old-fashion California melodies and a health does of Big Star's punchy power pop. The end result may come across a bit kitschy art points, but Statica's good time groove goes down smooth - Matthew Siblo
Old school pop shooting for a future on the radio
author: Reviewer MagazineTotal pop punk with a painting on the CD sleeve of a Futuristic girl (with a see-thru Jetson-esque dress and hi-tech leggings that would make a Japanese tennis shoe designer proud) tuning in an old 1940s radio. That's the feeling you get from this music: it's old school pop shooting for a future on the radio. It's mellow and easy-to-hear music. Somehow I imagine that they've got lots of betties at their shows. Nice touch is a short cover of "the Morning After" (from the Poseidon Adventure) that starts out staticy like a transistor radio, then gets strong and clear
Totally enjoyable outing.
author: American Music Press (AMP)Real sugary power pop. Totally enjoyable outing. Fans of bands like JELLYFISH and BIG STAR might just want to check these guys out.
