Well oiled, powerful, timeless grunge-pop-rock. Thought-through, back-to-basics songs that sound simultaneously dirty, tough and very sexy.

*** SOME PRESS QUOTES:
"A very successful release" (Stage Magazine - februari 2005)
"... the beautiful Staircase-album Superorganism" (Nieuwsblad - February 2005)
"The Belgian trio released a magnificent first album.... Staircase presents some beautifully balanced songs like the sweet ballade 23 vs 41, the excellent single Flashback and Up To The Stars which was like an orgasm to our ears. Sometimes it reminds us of Snowpatrol & Pearl Jam... the remainder of the album is also very powerful." (La Dernière Heure - Januari 2005)
"Staircase is not a straightforward guitar band - on the album Superorganism, songs are really the central issue. They're often spiced with juicy guitargrooves, but Staircase also shows their sensitive side from time to time." (Flanders Music Centre)
"The album ‘Superorganism' has no shortage of strong songs. As the single ‘Flashback' has already shown, this record, with its resounding rock allure, has enough hit potential… the sex appeal of ‘Superorganism' is certainly not insignificant…" (Kwadratuur.be)
"It is a varying sound, that can be strong, driven and dark on the one hand and amiable, reserved and emotional on the other. Well developed song material, carried by the sensitive, convincing voice of Steven Swinnen. It underlines the professionalism and versatility of this threesome… A band to keep an eye out for!" (Musiczine- Artist of the Month : May 2005)
"Well oiled, powerful, timeless grunge-pop-rock. If we really have to compare then it makes us think of Midnight Oil, Pearl Jam and The Tragically Hip." (Ticket - February 2005)
"Staircase creates its own rock-spectrum, from fragile to destructive ..." (AP)
*** BIOGRAPHY ***
Staircase was founded in 1998 by Carl Andries (bass guitar), Kristof Bauwens (drums) and Steven Swinnen (vocals/guitar). In 2001 Staircase reaches the final of the renowned Emergenza European Festival (Botanique-Brussels), running away with the "Award for Best Singer". Many more victories at diverse rock rallies were to follow. In 2003, despite the malaise in the music industry, Staircase signs a record deal with Blue Chick Records. Hardened by six years of Flemish underground, the band surpassed the cape of one hundred concerts by the end of 2004. Staircase songs are fresh pop-rock composites that bite hard and just won't let go. Thought-through, back-to-basics songs that sound simultaneously dirty, tough and sexy. Today Staircase presents its first official musical statement through the full album "Superorganism", supported by producer Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger, Hooverphonic, Winterville, ...).
