notes

Stacey Knights - saxophonist, flutist, vocalist and Songwriter
Massachusetts born and currently a resident of the Tampa Bay area.
Her musical style reflects pop influenced vocals fused with instrumental contemporary jazz.
Stacey has written dozens of tunes and co-written at least as many. She has recorded 5 on her debut CD and 7 more on her second project, While You Dream, released Oct, 2004.
Stacey started her professional career in the late 90’s working mainly as a solo musician in the Tampa Bay market. Within three years she decided to take a crack at the NAC market with the release of her debut CD Through the Window. This project caught the attention of a promotions company in LA who then marketed it nationally. She gained airplay and interviews nationally and internationally in over 150 markets. In 2002, Stacey was listed one of the top 50 most requested artists on Washington, DC’s WJZW 105.9FM. Smooth Jazz.com lauded her CD as “Smooth Jazz with attitude!...Knights plays a mean saxophone...She also plays flute AND she sings...Stacey’s debut solo effort is a fun blending of pop and contemporary jazz. We find the project to be a great listen...You want to hit 'Play’ again as soon as the last track finishes”.
She has been spotlighted in publication such as Florida Women News magazine and Boss magazine. She has been interviewed on FOX and NBC TV networks in Tampa, Florida, Austin, Texas and Columbus, Ohio.
Knights has been interviewed by college and mainstream radio stations across the country. She is pleased to note that 8 of the 10 songs on her first effort have made radio airplay. Three cuts were regularly rotated on the nationally broadcast Music Choice digital radio network. Her music is heard regularly as bumper music in Naples FL on 1610AM and she has given numerous station ID promos for commercial FM stations across the country.
Public performances include opening for Richard Elliot, Spyro Gyra, Peter White, Chieli Minucci of Special FX, Down to the Bone, Warren Hill, Nestor Torres, Steve Oliver and new age duos Willie and Lobo and Tingstad and Rumble. She has headlined concerts of her own in Florida, Ohio and Texas.
She maintains a monthly newsletter to hundreds of fans and finds the local audiences to be loyal and extremely supportive at every local performance Stacey plays.
Knights has even created video of two of her favorite songs from her current CD which is available by request through her website www.staceyknights.com.
Her current CD, While You Dream, is available for order on her website and at her performances. This 14 song follow-up is a well-crafted second chapter demonstrating her variety and maturity as a musician and songwriter.

  • Great blend of vocals and instrumentals
    author: Marty Simon

Stacey's mix of flute and sax, along with superior vocals make this CD the perfect blend. Nice balance of original and cover material accentuated by her smooth instrumentals. I've heard her play live and she's even better in person. Fantastic performer.

  • Smooth jazz with attitude... yes indeed!
    author: Laurent

I am tired of all these snooze jazz albums putting me to sleep after too seconds, of their programmed drums and already-heard-10,000- times-before melodies.... This record is about the exact contrary. Stacey Knights is one of the very very very few smooth jazz artists that understood that one can give an edge to his/her music. This is definitively smooth jazz and fans of the genre will be very happy with it. But where the album is a winner is that it can reall appeal to fans of contemporary jazz (Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets, etc.) or people like Bobby Caldwell. Forgive me for saying it very bluntly but it took a (very charming) lady to give smooth jazz some b**ls! If all smooth jazz records had the same attitude, the genre would not be so boring and repetitive. Kudos for a very good album.
