Splash’N Boots: Award Winning Children’s Music with a Spicy Kick!

Do you occasionally like to sing really loud along with Great Big Sea?
Do you have The Beatles greatest hits on your IPOD?
Do you like to relax with Simon and Garfunkel?
Do you sometimes enjoy AC/DC at full volume?
Do you remember meowing along with Fred Penner as he sang about that Cat who never came back?
If so.....

Introducing Splash'N Boots latest album....

A wildly rhythmic, uncontrollably catchy,
and genuinely listenable musical birthchild of Raffi and The Barenaked Ladies.....

Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots!

Created by the young upcoming duo Splash’N Boots (aka Taes and Nick), Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots is a varied mixture of musical styles: flipping between songs with cool southern groove to sea-faring eastern jigs, Old Fashioned hoe-down country, folk and Pop rock, this CD will most certainly get all members of the family body surfing in the living room. But the greatest part is that Splash’N Boots will be dancing right along side you. The genuine honesty Taes and Nick bring to their vocals transports them right through the CD player into your house. Taes and Nick have returned to the roots of what Canada is famous for; Real music sung by real people, for all members of the family.

To record this album Splash’N Boots teamed up with one of Canada’s top producer’s, Bob Doidge whose past credits include U2, Gordon Lightfoot, Sarah McLaughlin and Raffi, at Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton. “This album is top-notch. Taes and Nick have a very unique writing style that sets them apart from other children’s musicians, and the beauty of these songs is their universal appeal not only to children but audiences of all ages”- Bob Doidge. A variety of weird and authentic instruments fills each track ranging from a genuine 5 piece brass band, to kitchen spoons, a farfeeza, and a solo played on the Deer Toes (real deer toes!). Each song has wonderfully creative instrumentation that coordinates specifically with the lyrics. The drum kit for a song about our nation’s dollar was created entirely from hitting coin filled buckets, and “Thelma Pickles” (*the name of John Lennon’s first girlfriend) was inspired by the The Beatles. The wide range of instruments, vocal styles and rhythms will leave you and your children pulling out pots, pans and dried corn to make your own band to play along with Splash’N Boots.

“Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots” will inspire children everywhere to want to hop on the closest parrot and fly to the Eiffel tower for a big bowl of spaghetti. A trend will be started as families across the country clear away their living room furniture to have a hip shakin root-tootin square dance. So let’s put our voices together, shake our shoulders to the beat and give a big WHOOPIE for "Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots!"

Mom and Dad be Forewarned: Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots has been known to be a huge party hit long after the kids are in bed.

We love Nick & Taes and their infectious beat! My toddler whipped out her wiggle moves when she heard the CD. Rock on Splash 'N Boots!

  • Really playful and catchy CD. Also good for learning about Canada! Couldn't live without it. Recommend it to all my friends.

I can offer you no greater compliment than this – “Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots” has bumped the Wiggles from one of the spots on our stereo CD changer. That is an accomplishment.

  • Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots is my favourite CD
    author: Matthew Schermann

It's Matthew Schermann here (with my Daddy doing the typing. . cause I'm only seventeen months old). Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots is my favourite CD. All of your songs make me sing, dance, and clap. Your music cures my foulest of moods, so Mommy and Daddy really like it. . plus it is a refreshing change from my overplayed Sharon, Lois, and Bram CD! "Whoopie" is probably my favourite song (though I like them all) and Daddy plans to use "I've Got the Rhythm" with his elementary phys ed class. He's taught me a bunch of actions for the song. So, we all seem to really enjoy your CD and are finding quite creative uses for it.Keep up the good work!

“Splash'N Boots music is reminiscent of The Wiggles.”

I Thought that this CD was delightful. The cover was really great and international. I loved that there was such an array of instrumentation and fun voices throughout. The kids loved the snapping in monster party, it made them want to creep around and really internalize the beat and expression. There was a very world feeling to the music while it was still very fun and light. Whatever the weather used some great vocabulary that the children wanted to know the meaning of. I’m with you is a great song to share with your little one and Kookookamachoo is a modern children’s Maragaritaville. The popcorn song is one that I play before movietime when the children know they are about to get popcorn!”

  • you can feel the energy bouncing off of every song
    author: City Parent, Diane Peters

Husband and wife duo Taes and Nick are all about having a good time and you can feel the energy bouncing off of every song. It's get-up-and-dance time with tunes like "Monster Party" and the rhythmical "Kookookamachoo." Meanwhile, humour rules "Harry the Parrot" (my personal fave) and Thelma Pickles (which is about a traveling parrot with a silly name). Most of the songs tell a little story and luckily they're cute, not moral. Kids will really get it and clamour for the CD!

  • This CD splashes freshness, fun and frolic for everyone!
author: Aynne Johnston, Dramatic Arts Education, Queen's University

This CD is filled with upbeat, happy, engaging songs. The catchy tunes and funky rhythms will have children and parents alike moving and dancing along. These imaginative songs of pirates, parrots and parties with monsters capture the imagination. Kids' natural impulses of song and dance will have them laughing and singing in classrooms and at home. A good day is a Splash 'n Boots Day.

  • Another Awesome CD from Splash 'N Boots

The cd is a huge hit around the office. Parents are asking me where they can order a copy of it. It's feel good happy kids music that brings a smile to your face whenever you listen to it. My 3 year old and 7 year old cousin love the music and even more how they can dance to it with the actions that go along with each of the songs. This is definately the best in kids music that I've heard in a long time, definately worthy of a Juno

  • An album with many hidden gems
    author: Shannon Lowe

After purchasing this album my kids aged 4 & 7 immediately fell in love with it and sing and dance to every song-(they now have developed quite the routines). Personally I was amazed after a couple of listens how funny this album is and the detail in the lyrics. Very witty and very listenable. Well done.

  • This cd rocks in a most sincere way...
    author: Joan Smith

Taes and Nick are fantastically talented performers, and it's awesome that they've managed to capture the energy of their live show on this album. The songs are perfect for wee folk, but they'll keep the adults entertained as well (much like a good animated film). As a musician myself, I'm quite impressed with the skill demonstrated on these tracks, and the creativity. Rock on, Splash n' Boots!!

  • Best in Childrens Music that is all about kids having fun!
    author: Bonnie Adams

Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots is their best CD yet! These orignal songs are all about kids having fun. The Monster Party is a hit with my grandchildren, but Whoopie comes as a close second. The kids can't stop dancing and I even love singing along.

Popcorn, Pickles and Parrots is fun, energetic and kid approved. As someone who works with children, it is always a huge help to find a CD that the kids love to sing and dance too, but the grown-ups can enjoy too. This album will have you singing along in no time!
