Spin The Flava Biography 2008
The White Man’s attempt at African Pop!
7 Years ago Clint Grove started with the vision of SpinTheFlava. Joined first by some local talent from Port Elizabeth Clint and the other band members started doing gigs at high schools and local churches with their first release called Behind Closed Doors. In late 2001 Clint moved the band to Durban and joined the Durban Christian Centre. The band started making an impact in their new province KZN by doing gigs at youth groups and high schools.
Clint scouted around for some good local talent and recruited two brilliant dancers from Marian Ridge, Geezo Petersen and Vinno Asher and a singer from Martizburg, Musa Zondi. The four took the group to Johannesburg, Cape Town and some smaller towns in South Africa. 2 albums were brought out with these four members from KZN, Lovin Ya and One Nation.
In 2005 Vinno left the group and Andrea Voges a young and talented dancer from Westville replaced him. Candice Nel, a well-known vocal trainer and artist in Durban also joined forces with SpinTheFlava in 2005 and helped co-write some of the songs on the Combined Forces album which was the groups 4th release. The group had some difficulties in 2006 and the group took a break for 6 months while they recouped and refocused.
In early 2007 the group decided to expand and take on an extra dancer by the name of Gareth Charles who has proved to be quite the public speaker as well. When we go to gigs we normally encourage the young people to live a life of good values and morals, to say no to drugs and peer pressure and to respect and honour their parents. With the release of the new album GET UP in 2007 SpinTheFlava hope to make a huge impact in the lives of South Africans and the International community with a message of hope, peace and love from the Father God.
