The first album of acoustic seventies power pop funk folk metal from the bespectacled one. Feels a bit like eating a strange new kind of tangy fudge.

notes
Born in a cave in a remote area of Tibet in 1856, Spekki Chris looks remarkably good for his age – something he puts down to a deal made with Beelzebub (although by continuing to play guitar he is reneging on that deal). Now, joined by a bunch of diverse and talented musicians, who between them have played with artists as far removed as Asia, Culture Club and Konflikt, he has released the debut spekki chris album.
“Sounds like yaks on heat mounting Steely Dan on a snowy hillside to the sound of monastery bells”.
"Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end (in a good way)”.
spekki chris is in was released in 2007 and features performances from Al Kenning, Callum Train, Keith More, Richard Kasak, Roman Turtev, Steve Honest and Nathan Hardy.
For over 5 years the band has been in the vanguard of North London Acoustic Folk Metal. No three-chord, mid-tempo, depressive-acoustic relationship songs are allowed. Instead the band hit dead-girlfriend acoustic bedroom whingers repeatedly over the head with a variety of instruments.
Why is the CD so expensive?
The CD costs as much as it does because, quite simply, it cost a lot to produce. It’s a beautifully designed, industry-quality, 6-panel digipak, featuring original artwork from Lisa Mendes. It was produced by Keith More (Michael Schenker, Asia, Arena, Fish), and mastered by Jon Astley (Tori Amos, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Abba). But hey – it looks, feels and smells fantastic!
