Joe Spatarella, Singer / Songwriter
Joe has been playing music and writing songs for over 20 years. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York listening to Jimi Hendrix and began his music career playing hard rock with bands. Over time, Joe evolved to playing original acoustic folk-rock songs and covering "songs with a message" from the past.
A resident of Maryland since 1987, he is a board member of the Baltimore Songwriters Association (BSA).
His song, "One More Time" can be heard on the Baltimore Songwriters Association Compilation CD "Songs From Our Circle TOO" and has been played on listener supported radio stations including WETA (Washington, DC) Traditions program and WTMD (Towson University, Towson, Maryland) Detours program.
The title track of his debut CD, "Some Other Soul", is also on the latest Baltimore Songwriters Association Compilation CD "Songs From Our Circle 3".

Compelling and highly original debut CD!
author: Adam BookFrom the rocking groove of the first cut "Carrying Stones Away" to the mellow, hypnotic sounds of "Laying Down" and the bluesy passion of "Burning Sunset" this album is a real treat. Great harmony vocals on several tracks add to the listening experience. The well-penned lyrics offer a unique glimpse of an artist living in a post-9/11 world. Overall, a very interesting debut CD!
Beautiful songs that focus on the meaning of life

Joe has a very unique blend of meaningful lyrics, and demonstrates a beautiful balance between his earthy voice and rhythmic guitar style. All songs are sung and played with heartfelt passion and there is personal conviction felt in each musical phrase. Some of his music brings me back to the 60's and 70's, while other songs are more contemporary. Each of Spatarella's songs hit home in a way that most of today's music seems to miss. Joe gets to the heart and soul of each story by way of unexpected turns and twists. This is a beautiful collection of songs that make us contemplate what is really important in life. A Great Listen
author: Laurence BaerVery professional and impressive for a first album. I particularly enjoyed Carrying Stones Away, Some Other Soul, and Walkin in Darkness. Joe thinks deeply about things, has a great voice and infuses his music with lots of rythm!
