notes
Dan Sawyer has just completed his first CD of ukulele music. It includes original compositions for the uke and also jazz, blues and bluegrass. "I'm trying to expand the boundaries of uke music by bringing in new styles and techniques." Dan started playing the uke at 10 years old when his father came home with a Martin soprano uke. "The ukulele holds a special place in my heart. It just has some magic quality that makes you want to play it."
Dan Sawyer "Soybean" is also composer and musician. He has been working in the animation field since 1991 when he created the music for Nickelodeon's Doug. Since that time he has written the music for many TV and film projects including 101 Dalmations, LA Lakers, Disney's Stanley and Survivor.

Excellent!
author: Hop-toadSoybean's playing is inspired, and his passion for the ukulele is contagious. A most relaxing CD, perfect for taking the kinks out of a bad day.
This is not your father's uke CD
author: RickA whole CD of uke music? You gotta be kidding, right? Well, Dan truly takes the uke into wonderful new terrain with this lovely CD. The production and accompaniment is all top-notch, but the uke playing is just amazing. From the more traditional ragtime tunes, to his new spin on country blues, this CD is an absolute joy from start to finish.
Awesome uke cd! Must have for the uke enthusiast!
author: RilesWonderful collection of terrific music. Nice mix of solo uke and accompanied pieces, with some sung. A truly great cd.
"Cant Refuse the Blues" is a great country blues, uke style.
author: Paul WayondsOne of the songs, Can't Refuse the Blues, surprised me. I didn't think country blues this authentic could be played on a uke. Also, a great variety of music on here (mostly instrumental) all played on a tiny concert size uke.
Great Stuff
author: Uke FanI am amazed and inspired by Dan Sawyer's abilities on this instrument. He's terrific.
A Landmark CD that takes ukulele playing to new hieghts.
author: John CroftOver the years I have listened to many ukulele recordings, many of which have been very good, some of which have been - to say the least - dire, but none of which have been of a truly top quality professional standard, until now. From the first track it becomes quickly apparent that Dan Sawyer is a truly talented professional musician, and as the CD progresses he cleverly uses his skills to provide the listener with not only a tremendously varied selection of tracks of the highest quality, but also musicianship of the highest order. He takes ukulele playing to another level with apparent ease, both to himself by his beautifully smooth but technically advanced playing, and to the listener - who is left thirsting for more! A fabulous CD, and one which will raise the profile of this talented musician within the world of professional music as well as within the world of fans the ukulele.
Dan Sawyer is a vituoso! This CD is a perfect package.
author: Jim FoxDan Sawyer's Uke Of Ages is a beautifully conceived, arranged and performed collection of eclectic songs for this unique instrument. The selections, of various styles, have kept me entertained over and over. The swinging Sheik, the grooving Sloop John B, Coming Home, and his fine vocal style make this a winner for me! It's a one-of-a-kind. Five stars!
