notes
This historical CD features two previously unheard Beethoven pieces recently found unfinished and reconstructed by Dutch musicologist Willem Holsbergen. The two lost pieces are Overture to the opera Macbeth and the lost oboe concerto. They were recorded for the very first time last year by the soloists of the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic conducted by the reknowned Russian/Israeli conductor, Yuval Waldman. In addition the CD comprises all four movements of Beethoven's Fifth and Romance for Violin and Orchestra. The bonus 8-page booklet inside the CD package explains the entire history of the project along with documentation and photos. This amazing music was recorded in Russia the summer of 2006 and was released in 2007.

Great new works for orchestra
author: Roderick EllemThe two new Beethoven pieces are well played and are great additions to the composers list of works. The violin Romance is well played but I was a little disappointed with the performance of the 5th Symphony. A little slow and dull for my liking. But be that as it may, the CD is worth it for the new works.
