"No one should be having more fun than the band or the performer"
That quote best sums up the way Dave Soreff feels about performing and music in general. Bringing with him, a sense of tradition for the singer/songwriter genre, as well as a sense of humor, Dave is ready to make his presence felt on the national music scene. Originally from Newton, Massachusetts, Dave comes from a very musical family. His father Shelly was a professional pianist and singer, who for many years was a first call pianist in Boston, and the house pianist at The Ritz Carlton-Boston. Encouraged from an early age to express himself musically, Dave studied violin for eight years, but was given a guitar for his 12th birthday. With his father's encouragement and assistance, Dave soon found himself playing on weekends with various dance bands and orchestras, turning professional at age 14. Performing throughout high school and college, Dave also picked up skills on percussion, through his time with the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Minuteman Marching Band and also marching with the world champion Garfield Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
Dave moved to South Florida in 1997, to pursue his music full time once again. Since then, he has performed in many different clubs and venues throughout South Florida, including an ongoing relationship with Sloppy Joe's bars and restaurants. In his time in South Florida, Dave has been fortunate enough to open up for legendary artists such as Grand Funk Railroad and The Beach Boys. As an outlet for his love of Caribbean rock and folk, Dave founded The Coral Reef Revue in early 1999. Formed primarily as a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, it has become one of the most cohesive and musical bands in South Florida, performing at clubs, colleges, city concerts and numerous private and corporate events. Dave is proud and pleased to be one of the official musicians for the South Florida Parrot Heads, the Barefoot Children of South Florida PHC and The Parrot Heads Of The Palm Beaches PHC.
