notes
Sons of Riley is a new incarnation of a band that has been crankin' it out for decades. In previous life times they have been Basement Floor and Empire, but finally giving a nod to the genetic material that is their heritage they have settled on Sons of Riley.
The band consists of the sibling team, Tim and Mark Miskimon. Tim who does most of the lead vocals on this CD also plays guitar, keyboards, bass, and percussion. He also recorded, produced, arranged, and mixed the CD. Mark does the honors on vocals, drums, percussion, and bodhran. Supporting the Sons of Riley are John Derry doing a fine job on guitar, and laying down the heavy stuff is Harry Jackson on vocals, bass, and guitar.
This CD could be a primer for those bands who want to get back to the basics of good (and I mean good) 'ole rock 'n roll. This is mature rock including straight ahead rockers and power ballads. Now, don't take offense or be turned off by that term. What I mean is that these songs are MELODIC. Remember when that was a part of most rock songs? Slick production qualities give this CD the polish that adds to its listen ability.

The New Classic Rock
author: Hotline USAThis album features all the best elements of rock in it's hey day. Strong melodies, great vocals & top notch musical performances & arrangments. I was overwhelmed with the versatility in the song writing. Many of these songs could be hits if promoted to the right markets. Yes this is a great rock album but much, much more than that - the music on this album could fit comfortably in any of the past 3 decades of popular music. I look forward to the next offering from these guys!
Great flashback to when guitars and keyboards ment something!!!
author: Aaron IsslerHammond, harmoies with rockin' guitars what more could we ask for. Oh yeah, how about a little Jazzy feel on "The World's Going Crazy" and nice ballads too. Vocals are very nice with a good range and blend. I am not sure my foot stopped bouncing! Rock on!! Aaron Issler - New Port Richey, FL. I hope you guys get down this way some time.
Great sounding rock with modern touches and good singing!
author: Planet Ohm NewsIt's good to hear positive music these days when the radio plays mostly gloomy rock. This CD is like a breath of fresh air. Excellent vocals with real harmonies which you don't hear much these days. The songs are diverse enough to keep one listening over and over. Rock, ballads, pop, and even some fun (Waking Up).
