For Sonia Leigh, songwriting is in her blood. Her father and his father planted the seed that would blossom in the heart of a six-year old kicking at the dirt on a country road in Florida. The same roads where her grandfather Roy, moaned the lovesick blues and even wrote a song recorded by The Hillbilly Shakespeare himself. That road would lead young Sonia Leigh to many places to call home in her future. Moving around so much with her family gave Sonia the fire to always keep going and to become resilient to new places. Her Father Dennis used to let her bang away on his guitar and later when she was ten years old began teaching chords and strumming techniques which would build the foundation for a mansion of talent.

Taking some time to release her third record, "Run or Surrender" Sonia Leigh was determined to give her songwriting time to mature and develop into its full potential. She now has a collection of material equipt with nail driving lyrics and melodies that will stick with you for days. Songs that mark a highlight in her career and has her music peers singing along. Sonia Leigh is making the rounds and building a following as she goes.

    Run or Surrender the cd of Sonia Leigh is a brilliant one.It is Sonia 3rd cd and by far her best one. Sonia Leigh is from Georgia and her pronouncement manner is lovely. Really a pleasant voice. I felt in love such a nice voice and great lyrics. The music is a mix of americana/old blues/folk. For me the top songs on the cd are Frozen bed, A poem from the ocean floor and Fading away. On the cd you hear different instruments from fiddle, dobro, trombone played by talented musicians. Catch Sonia live in your neighborhood. Hope to see Sonia also play live in the Netherlands.

    This is the best CD ever. I am not just saying this because she is my sister but I will buy her music always. If you ever get a chance to catch her live I promise you will not be disappointed.     This is a great CD. It has so many great songs and I mean songs that stick in your head like somebody stuck them there with a glue gun. I love Sonia's voice and the way she delivers the songs. I had to take a break from the CD for a couple of days because it's like "Poem from the Ocean Floor...and Frozen Bed were on high rotation in my brain. Her authenticity and confessional songwriting reminds me of Melissa Etheridge's first album. I'm glad I found her on My Space when I was looking at Kirsten Hall's page.
