Great music great cause. Benefit compilation to raise funds for cancer treatment.

notes

Painted Sun Records releases Songs for Laura Volume One. A benefit cd to raise funds for cancer treatment dedicated to Forest Suns mother Laura.

" Laura left her body feb 17th..two years later than the doctors said
she had to live. She died at home as she requested. Dressed in her
finest garments and jewelry, holding her lovers hand as she took her
last breath.
My brother and i got to spend a week with her in the hospital and say
goodbye. She couldn't speak but i know she could hear. i brought my
guitar and we sang her favorite songs. i played her the Songs for
Laura cd everyday.
She is a courageous and beautiful and powerful being...and she will
be missed.

  • A great find!

I heard the song "Blackbird" on public radio and I was captivated. I went home and ordered the CD. I like every song on this album, especially Flowering Spade, and Devil May Dance. My 12 -year-old son loves the song "When I Go". The album is filled with varied rhythms, haunting melodies and lyrics that actually make me think. And to think that it was all a labor of love. Wow.

I love this entire CD! It is full of excellent music from a variety of artist and is stuck in my CD player. I have emailed the link to all my friends. I feel like I know these people, like I am sitting in their varied living rooms listening to them play excellent song after excellent song. I will definately pursue more music from many of these artists.

ouch! this compilation is SO good - it hurts! tom freund and i were talking about how these people should be doing a festival together as the collective vibration of this combination of musicians is great! it blends beautifully from top to bottom. its a feel good cd, the first one to go around and around in my disc player for weeks without stopping since i was a teeniebopper, perhaps with the exception of jeff buckley. i think i forgot about life, and it brought it all back to me... so if you like life, youll love songs for laura; may she rest in peace. seriously, this is the best of the best for the americana/acoustic/folk genre, it is worthy of your attention, and im not just saying that because im on it, i know a lot about whats out there cause ive been out there, and these people are the cream of the crop in my not sounding so humble opinion. i hope you enjoy it as i have.
