notes
Sonal Anu, pronounced 'Soan-all Ah-new', was founded upon the friendship, common world-view, and wildly bent sense of humor of bassist Brent-Anthony Johnson (BAJ) and multi-instrumentalist Chris Ball. Sleep Drum is an eclectic mix of straight ahead jazz, funk, pop, world beat and even folk music influences. The CD is a unique and fun departure from the smooth jazz and other music Chris is known for.
SLEEP DRUM SPECIAL: This CD is a CDBaby $5 Special!!! To participate in the $5 CD specials, you must purchase 3 CDs from CDBaby's $5 bin. Still... that's pretty cool.
To visit BAJ, click on the "Brent-Anthony's MySpace Page" link at the bottom left of this page.

progressive sound
author: AMIRSleep Drum tune gets a five star. love the sound and would like to hear more.
Eminently listenable...
author: Jonathan MooreFinally....some Brent-Anthony Johnson bass playing "up in the mix"! Sonal Anu have produced an eminently listenable but eclectic mix of jazz and worldbeat influences marked by playing of the highest order. Not a duff track on the album...even the final hidden track is manaically amusing. These folk obviously love what they're doing...BUY IT!
Amazing right down to your soul. It speaks to you if you care to listen.
author: CyberGEvery song has multiple layers and meanings. It is a true work of art from start to finish... with a bit of humor thrown in just for grins.
The Last Track is You in a Nutshell
author: Kenny JohnsonHave to keep it about the CD, not your so very interesting, and special, personality. I've heard you play in person, but on this CD, you rocked! I can totally hear your picky recording ideals and years of skill, but mostly, your amazing love for the music you do. What a great album!
This ROCKS!
author: Rock V.I like the playing on this disc a lot. The songs move from one to the next very well. It grooves! Great playing!
It's all M and M's but different colors.
author: KathyVariety in flavor, but consistent with itself.
