notes
Solid Tube is a rock band in the finest late 60s/early 70s tradition playing blues, country and rock in a straightforward, powerful and tender way.
Running Time was recorded in Vienna with a suitably fitting back to basics approach by Los Angeles based producer Pete Strobl, using vintage amps and stripped back arrangements to spotlight the band’s excellent songwriting and expert musicianship. The focus is on the stunning Mandana, a singer with an amazing voice who oozes soul throughout the album’s ten original songs, while the guitars range from rocking to sublime over a solid rhythm section. Running Time would sound right at home amongst early albums by artist like The Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger and Linda Ronstadt - it’s timeless rock ‘n’ roll.
Standout songs include the opening double punch of straight ahead rockers “Know Me” and “Crusade”, the introspective “Naked”, the strutting “What I Say” and especially the extremely radio friendly “Sunny Day”.
Solid Tube are the first Austrian band to raise an album recording budget via crowdsourcing on the SellaBand platform from fans all around the world. They have already developed a strong domestic presence built on their reputation as a great live band. Running Time is their opportunity to reach the larger audience their talent surely deserves.
