notes

Scream, dance, reminisce and dream along with Son of Rust as we take you on an intimate, expansive and sometimes frightening electronic journey through a multitude of electronic and rock styles.

Out of the thousands of indie bands out there, Son of Rust stands out as an emerging internet phenomena. Before ever releasing a CD, they were recieving over 20,000 plays a month on MP3.COM and appeared on two of the now defunct Riffage.com's "best of..." CD's. With the launch of "Six Years", they plan to begin their first ever live performances and "real life" promotion.

What is Son of Rust? It's "A unique, fresh sounding artist with depth, emotion, and a style of their own - a genre busting pop groove that stands alone and yet remains accessible. A beat to dance to, or a hard lyric line to scream along with - it's all right here." - Indie Electronic Online (2001). Listeners compare Son of Rust to bands like New Order, Nine Inch Nails, Garbage, and Depeche Mode.

The heart and soul of Son of Rust is Justin Coope, composer arranger, lead vocalist and producer. Ben Purdy adds much needed critique and vocal embellishment, as well as lead guitar accompaniment. Guest vocalists such as Cameron Cartier and Micheal Pacheco round out the mix.

You can help Son of Rust realize their potential by purchasing one of this limited run of 1,000 albums. All proceeds will go directly to buying equipment for the live shows and helping promote the band. Also, the members of SoR promise to be your friends for life and would have millions of your babies if it were physically possible.

If you like electronic beats, this album is well worth the money. Though not all the songs were not to my taste, overall this is a great album. I say buy it and support this band, they deserve to do well.

  • When music used to be emotionnal
    author: Bradaviel

It's been a long time since i felt this way about a Cd ( actually since the mp3.com release of a joy machine complilation )! This is electro at its best. Emotionnal, edgy, dark and efficient ! the voice is amazing and the beat are catchy and really well though. Effects and distortions, everything is put to good use. An album Not to miss!

  • Pretty much the best indy electronic rock

An amazing disc with an amazing talent leading it. Why aren't these guys superstars yet? I guess they are. Each track is excellent, but the ones that really stick out: I Can't Be Sane, Bigger Than God (best track, perhaps!), Silicon Gene, Take Me Back... man, this whole disc is superb. And I agree, it's Nine Inch Nails meets Depeche Mode, with something special in the mix, too. Excellent!!

I've had the CD for only five days and I'm on my last set of bateries. I had a 12 pack of bateries a week ago. Well, any way, this is the most addicting CD I ever listened to. Every song on it I love. And other than that, I'm proud to have this CD in my collection.

  • What we heard from fans who pre-ordered the album.

YAY...for being the first to type a review. hah. Since I parted with my hard earned 6 dollars, it was SO worth that and more. I've been listening to it eversince I woke up. I already knew I would love the song Devil Inside Me, What You Are and Bigger Than God, because I downloaded the songs a while back on a whim and that got me to love SOR. Everything else on this album, I love just as much! The music isn't worthy for light listening on a stereo, this music needs to be put on and BLARED!!! It helps the effectivness hehe.
