notes

The long-shelved second album from Social Deviantz has made its way to the public.
Dease Records is proud to release ‘Bleaky Deky’ in a limited-edition run, coinciding with the band’s return from a 5-year hiatus. One of Vancouver’s original rap crews (with a unique down tempo style), Social Deviantz have matured their sound on this release. Exploring more introverted territory, the Deviantz finished recording and mixing this CD as their 12” ‘Space And Time’ was released in 2001, just before their time off. Experimental, flowing, and off-the-cuff - everything fans of the Social Deviantz have come to expect – ‘Bleaky Deky’ is a confirmation of style and substance.
Social Deviantz formed in early 1992, and spent a few years performing and making freestyle tapes before releasing their debut LP ‘Essential Mental Nutrients’ in 1996. Two songs were featured on successive ICU (Ill Crew Universal) compilations, sharing space with artists from around the globe. A 3-song single, ‘Minimal’, sprang to life in 2000, offering a first taste of Social Deviantz' sophomore effort, a 25-song monsterpiece called ‘Bleaky Deky’. That album was put on hold when the Deviantz went on hiatus in 2001, but has now been released on Dease Records. Over the years, their songs have also appeared on Muchmusic, YTV, CBC, ‘The L Word’, Mike Latronic’s ‘Boardstories’, and many other radio and TV stations, films and sport videos.
