notes
I don't know... just listen to what's playing. Live, we are very agressive. We play what we want. We play stuff that makes people gyrate in peculiar ways. Uncontrolably sometimes. It's wierd. But that's what our main influences did to us, and we just want to do the same for others. They need it. They don't even know what the heck we're playing. We don't even try to make it pretty. We play it loud, shake the walls, and make a party out of it all.
HISTORY:
Snakedrive is a four-piece band based in Bloomington, Indiana that has its roots in both North Mississippi Hill Country blues and indie rock. The band got its start when guitarist/lead singer Jeremy Sprague and bassist/singer Brian Petersen went on a pilgrimage to Mississippi to meet their idol, RL Burnside. After having met RL and touring and playing on the street in Mississippi, Petersen, who had a long history with indie bands in Indiana (L.U.V., Lessick's Kid, Black Olive), returned to Indiana and turned his attention more toward the blues, while Sprague returned to his then-home in South Carolina, and refined his style and technique as a disciple of Burnside's.
A year later in the summer of 2002, Sprague returned to his hometown of Bloomington, and he and Petersen formed what eventually became known as Snakedrive. Joined by Alex Puga (O2R Blues Band) on harmonica/vocals and Kevin McCammon on Drums, the group was able to realize their vision of a hard-driving, raucous, foot-stomping blues band that was cast in their own unique mold.

Hot Stuff!
author: wetbellyThese boys can cook it well done! They've got the drive, all right.
At the Feet of the Master
author: Doc Malone from Code BlueSnake Drive masterfully carries on the tradition of their major influence, RL Burnside, combining country blues roots with a very uptempo/contempo electric sound. The burning guitar blends well driving harmonica and is backed by a tight, cohesive rhythm section. Sprague's vocals are strong and impassioned. This CD is a memorable and pleasurable listening experience.
Try not to dance...I dare you!
author: bobbie blues-girlThese guys are tight musicians and dynamic performers who know how to get a crowd going. Everything about this cd is amazing. No one captures a swampy groove like Snake Drive. BUY THIS CD! You won't regret it!

Front Porch Vibe
author: TheComposerAcoustic and harmonica help keep this offering in right frame of down home blues. Sounds like it was cut on my front porch. Love the drummers approach on the groove. Vocals catch your ear quickly... and tell the story. Love the slide guitar; keeping it real. Overall a very strong presentation. Congratulations.... it's a keeper... - From a review of "Hammer" on GarageBand.com
Fast-Paced Boogie
author: lukygutA fast-paced blues number. Gotta be a live recording, which makes it even cooler. The intro was interesting, I expected a slower song, then it really picked up. The vocals and harmonica fit the song well, the muscians seem to be very proficient to be able to keep up the pace of the song and remain so together--a compliment the drummer especially. Good song. - From a review of "Tell Your Man" on GarageBand.com
Great sound!
author: LuekenThis CD has a great mood with a drop of Blue Traveler. The lyrics focus on the trials of the heart with a fresh sense of humor. You can't help but move your feet while listening to this great CD!
Thick, in your ear, BLUES!!!
author: Patrick SineyThick, in your ear and soul, BLUES!!!! Their music goes deeper than most Blues bands really want to go. It sinks into your head not because of shear force but because your mind wants them to....and then Snake Drive is injected.......and it's all over. ****stars
