If you want to read a good story on how the band got together, look at our CD BABY page for our first album, "Half the Bottle Down." If you want some info on Shilelagh Law's upcoming shows and you would like to be on their e-mail list, go to their website at www.halfthebottle.com. If you want lilting tenors over the silky strains of a softly plucked harp, go get a Frank Patterson album, because you are in the wrong place!
"Together in the End", the sophomore effort from Shilelagh Law, is an hour long journey into the Irish-American experience. Ten traditional rebel and drinking tunes combined with five original compositions makes for an unforgettable musical trip. "Together in the End" features "Christmas in New York," the September 11 tribute that has quickly become their most requested song. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this album will go to the Twin Towers Fund.

"Talk about some seriously kick-butt Irish pub music! These guys really nail it home by adding to the trad pieces some 5 original compositions, 2 of which are tributes to the 9/11 tragedy & are heartfelt as hell. Grab this now." CHAOS REALM (http://hometown.aol.com/raysrealm/myhomepage/index.html)
"...There's a professionalism at work with the band belting out ballads and tunes with a fresh full-bodied enthusiasm. The Law's treatment of 'The Irish Rover' reminds me of Dublin's Shamrg with 'The High Reel' added for good measure, while 'The Pioneer' is a typical example of a humorous Irish American pub song in the vaudeville tradition. 'The Rare Ould Times' shows their quieter side while, 'Christmas in N.Y.' tells an all too familiar story in the wake of September 11 2001. The playing is good, tight and solid, and the good time atmosphere comes across well through the recorded medium. This is a fun band." GREENMAN REVIEW (www.greenmanreview.com)
"...Their second release is a largely gratifying collection of old and new--a handful of solid new nuggets mixed with some traditional standbys...This is an acoustic bar band as advertised, with the energy and swagger to sway both the previously uninterested and the most devoted drinkers...Come to hear about rambunctious drinking, political rebellion, love mostly lost and a touch or two of heart. Who can't have a good time immersed in such variety?" KEVIN'S CELTIC REVIEWS

The best CD
author: Nick RyanWhen I ordered Shilelagh Law, I knew what I was getting. My friend Mike had bought the CD when he saw the band live earlier that year. I heard it once, and knew I had to have the CD. Together in the End is the perfect CD for a rowdy night, or a quiet night in, reminiscing with friends.
Damn Good Band
author: Review By Sean HollandShilelagh Law are a NY-based Irish band and this is their second fill-length release. SL are a damn good band, not too heavy on the “punk” side of the spectrum, which is fine by this critic. A good example of a traditionally based Irish band sans the Clash influence is a rare thing these days. Refreshing. Very refreshing. It’s what I needed to escape the doldrums of yet another “Irish Punk” band. Their motto is “New York’s Greatest Irish American Pub Band” and pub band is a good way to describe them - I can imagine sitting back listening to these guys in a dark corner, not too worried about much else except drinking and singing along. The CD itself is a mix of originals and traditionals, with the trads taking up the majority of the disc. Favorites like “The Irish Rover” and “Sean South” are given the SL treatment - top-notch musicianship delivered with the professionalism of a band who should be making waves and taking this group to the next level. I also must mention “The Pioneer” done with enough flair to rival The Wolfe Tones. And THAT is a compliment. These guys remind me heavily of the Dubliners and the aforementioned ‘Tones- things are kept clean and smooth even when they are sped up. An impressive set of musicians to say the least. These guys don’t rely on feedback or electric wailing's to get their point across - they do it old school. Also included are two of my all-time favorites - a fine version of the heart-swelling “Fields of Athenry” and their version of “The Rare Auld Times” is one of the better I’ve ever heard - and believe me, the song holds a special place in my heart, so I’ve heard quite a very renderings. Two originals stand out - a nice tribute to those who were lost on 9/11 in “Christmas in New York.” This one should be a Yuletide favorite. I know it was here in my stereo this season. Another SL original (I believe) is “Together in the End” which is also about 9/11 and is just as powerful: “And the heroes once forgotten are cheered on once again and a nation once divided stands together in the end.” The disc ends nicely with a perfect version of “Boys of the Old Brigade/A Nation Once Again” which then segues into the ‘hidden’ track with the rebel’s attitude “Back Home in Derry”….”John Folk likes to sell Ben and Jerry’s” indeed. (Just listen to the track.) All in all, these guys have the talent and fortitude to become big on the scene, and not by use of distortion to cover up mistakes or drunken wailing's to sound indecipherable. This is done Dubliners style - free and loose, distortionless but with talent, fire and guts to back it up. And that’s all I ask for or need in a damn fine Irish band. Well done. AWESOME!!!
author: KimberlyThis CD, as well as the other one, was AMAZING. I really enjoyed everything on it and several ofthe songs were great for stepdancing. I also saw the band live last week at the Canteena in Bay Ridge and if you thought the CDs were good, you ain't heard nothin yet, cause nothing beats them live. Keep up the great work!

I was wishing someone would sing covers of the old Clancy Bothers music, and sure enough my dream came true. Shilelagh Law's robust versions of tunes keeps us singing, dancing and the Irish/American tradition very alive. I got the Cd's, listened and got out to see the band inside a month. They're brilliant live!!

Christmas in NY is beautiful
author: Jasen WestI originally heard the song Christmas in NY on 92.9 Rock. I had never heard any of Shilelagh Law's other songs, but I bought the CD just because that one song was so great. Luckily it turned out to be a damn good CD and it's been in my CD player ever since I bought it.

author: Mr T.Oooh Ahh Up the Ra....now buy the cd,fool. Me and the rest of the boys from the A-Team love Shilelagh Law. I listen to them when I drive around in my D.C. Cab. The lads in the band helped me train for my fight with Rocky Balboa....that's why I lost. Oooh Ahh Up th Ra say Oooh Ahh Up the Ra!
Oh No!...They did it again!
author: Rolling Scone MagazineWe here at Rolling Scone Magazine still haven't been able to stop listening to the Law's 1st album "Half the Bottle Down" and now they do this....a 2nd album! We won't be able to get any work done around here. All the staff wants to do is listen to blistering jigs, reels and songs mostly about drinking. But who can blame us....this new album is unbelievable.....these guys are certainly the new voice Traditional Irish-American music....this isn't your folk's version of the Wolfetones or the Clancy Brothers. This is what those guys wished they sounded like. Buy this cd.....you will not be dissappointed. Shilelagh Law is as advertised....NEW YORK CITY'S GREATEST IRISH AMERICAN BAND.
