A combination of Ragtime Jazz, Old Country Blues, Creepy Folk, 70s era glam and psychadlia, along with electronic/experimental soundscapes, played with soaring pop mellody's and cascading falsetto harmonies.

notes

Hailing from the deserts of Tempe, AZ, the five-piece Indie/Pop group known as Skybox has managed to attract a lot of attention for themselves.

Having released their debut LP Arco Iris, recorded by Jamie Woolford of The Stereo and mastered by Jason Livermore (Rise Against, The Ataris, MxPx), Skybox’s music managed to catch the attention of Jesse Ledoux (ex. assistant art director at Sub Pop Records), who after hearing just one song offered to design their CD packaging.

Having already shared the stage with The Honorary Title, Jack's Mannequin, The Format, Waking Ashland, Steel Train, Reubens Accomplice and many others, Skybox is scheduled to complete a nationwide tour in support for their upcoming album. Perhaps it is because of their utterly unique and catchy sound, their entertaining live shows, or their down-to-earth demeanor, but whatever the case may be, people everywhere are falling in love with Skybox.

I knew from the second I put this album in that it was going to be good. I love the way all of the songs are different, but still go well together on a CD. It's fun to listen to. My favorite track is Infinity & Blue Skies.

This CD is the type where, if you're having a bad day, you can listen to it and it'll make your day better instantaneously. The melodies are wonderful, the beats are catchy, and the lyrics are clever. I can't stress enough how superb this CD is! Good work on this album, and I look forward to the next one!

  • Arco Iris by Skybox is great!

I recently purchased a copy of Arco Iris by Skybox and I must say this album is great! It is a mixture of ragtime piano filtered through brit pop, psychedelic, experimental goodness...I recommend this record to anyone who likes to venture into the bizarre! The lyrics are whitty and the melodies are very captivating. Better yet than their album is their live show. I saw these guys perform at the midwest music summit this past summer and they are great performers as well. My only question is WHY HASN'T ANYONE SIGNED SKYBOX!!!

  • Best CD I've bought all year

  • Love It

Smart, refreshing, fun music. Great blend of styles, not just song-to-song, but within each song. The unbelievably catchy line "They're gonna love my babies tonight" has been in my head for about a week.

  • Outstanding!

This compact disc is really great it reminds me of being in a playpen as a kid. All the shiny objects to pull on that make those crazy noises: squeak, goosh, wheez, cracka la. Thats what skybox is like, a playpen.
