  • A great deal of heart
    author: Brian Handy

"He had a hole in his soul the size of Mississippi" is a profound lyric in a profound song. Freedman sings and plays from the gut; "P.S." is a wrenching song. Skott earned a great review in The Advocate; I'm glad I took the time to find his music.

  • It is a beautiful and inspiring work of art

Swimming After Dark is a beautiful and inspiring work of art. I could listen to it all day everyday. Freedman is a brilliant musician that deserves high recognition for this cd.

  • Good music.

The performance at the DE Pride Festival was great. I have enjoyed your CD since the day I purchased it. That day was the first time I heard of you and your music and have enjoyed it ever since. Keep up the good work.

  • It's a keeper!

One of the premiere talents on the scene today...buy the CD...it's a keeper!

  • Freedman whispers unspoken feelings and carries them to the altar .
    author: Gajoob

Freedman is a singer-songwriter who delves deeply into emotional soulscapes. Instrumentation is just Freedman's ringing tenor voice and his acoustic piano which withstands as much beating as the songwriter's heart does throughout the course of this album. An amazing experience it is, to be witness to such secret revelations through music so powerful and driven by one person's basic human spirit. Freedman whispers unspoken feelings and carries them to the altar and, in the darkness of introspection, the sparks of redemption flurry atop a pounding piano symphony visibly vibrating. Swimming After Dark is mandatory.

  • Musical gem
    author: Jennifer Layton

Swimming After Dark still has me under its spell. I've never heard anything like this. It's gorgeous, heartbreaking, passionate, and unabashedly honest. Each song pulls me into a vivid 2-3 minute snapshot of Freedman's life and then returns me to my own place. He lives in a beautiful world, even when it's painful, and I'm finding it hard to leave.

  • Emerging artist-undeniably talented
    author: Jayke Pallastrino, Chicago Times

I picked this cd up on a recommendation from a good friend and was very impressed. Freedman's talent far surpasses his age and his strong voice is reminiscent of early Billy Joel and Jackson Browne. He's quite a good songwriter too and seems to just piece it all together in a manner rare for a singer/songwriter on a debut album. Definitely a must-have for those into the new contemporary singer/songwriter scene, I expect to see him move up from here.

  • Soul touching and soaring talent
    author: Tom Obuck

Skott's music touches an even deeper place in my heart each time I play his wonderful CD or attend any of his masterful gigs. His music's as sincere as his soul and my Hollywood pal, Helen Reddy, writer & voice behind the infamuus anthem, "I Am Woman", was moved by Skott's "Swimming After Dark" that she is spreading the endorsement of "all" throught the Music Industry. "Swimming After Dark" is meant for anyone whether in concert or via CD at home or in the comfort of a car on a Sunday drive.

  • "Swimming" sets emotions afloat
    author: Ryan

skott provides a shoulder for the downtimes and a high-five for the uptimes - all through the artistry of his delicate and driving music. a tissue for the tears, a hug for the heart, and a soundtrack for the soul - that is Swimming After Dark.

  • Finally A Beautiful Voice That Really Sings
    author: Marla Haut

It's a comfort to know that there are people of Skott's generations who prove the world wrong. Skott is extremely talented, extremely intelligent, and has the drive to make sure that people everywhere can share in his brilliant insights. His lyrics speak to people of all types and ages- everyone stands to gain something from listening to him; even better, every time you listen to his CD you get something different out of it. . . That is the result of having such a richly layered sound. A must have for everyone who calls themself a lover of music or poetry.

Just listen, please! You just can't understand that skott freedman can do things on the piano and with his vocals that just sounds beautiful. He's not commercial, and he's not looking for radio play...just listen to him and you'll feel what he feels...it's like listening to folk music the way it ought to be...to touch your soul!
