(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

This is a brand new sound of Country featuring some excellent Nashville musicians including Willie Nelsons harmonica player, Mickey Raphael. It's good. Give a listen.

notes

After getting an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1983, Skooter started playing in a band in Austin Texas. His music is definitely infuenced by Willie and Waylon and the other Lonestar recording artists and Stevey Ray Vaugn. He now has twenty years of stage and life experiences as a musician to write about. He writes and arranges his own music. He has a music education degree and plays a one man band show at The Texas club Steak house,in Ruidoso New Mexico. They recorded his album at Studio 23 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was fortunate enough to find a very good producer in Mark Dreyer. Mark brought some of Nashvilles finest and most notable musicians in on the project. Willie Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael does a killer job, even plays a new harmonica that he built himself. Roy Orbisons keyboard/piano player, Jim (Turbo) Kirby plays, as does Jessica Andrews' bass player, Dal Thomlin. We were fortunate to get Wayne Killius on drums. He was only in town for a couple of weeks on a short break from touring with David Ball (Private Andrew Malone). This is a unique original album with many catchy songs. We hope you like it. Thank you.

As this artist mother I have to say he has worked hard all of his life and is very talented. He has played music since he was old enough to hold an instrument and he can play just about anything. I am very proud of the work that he has put into this album. Great dance music.

  • Take Me Back to Ruidoso

Serendipity allowed me to catch Skooter Jones playing at the Texas Club Grill in Ruidoso. I had to purchase his CD as a reminder of the mountains and countryside of southern New Mexico. I particularly like "Take Me Back Home" as I'm sure anyone who loves New Mexico would identify with his sentiments. He's great live, too! But if you can't get anyone to take you back to New Mexico, this CD'll have to do. . . .
