notes
This might go down as the definitive Skip Heller record -- organ trio grooves splashed with calypso, ska, surf, jam band stuff, and punk rock. Mostly originals, but covers from XTC, X, the Dead Milkmen, and Si Kahn.
Recorded in three days -- inlcuding mixing -- in Magnolia Springs, Alabama, this one has all the grease and soul we've come to expect, but takes such a Pan-American approach to a seemingly cliched format that we're almost afraid to call it an organ combo record.
Almost. No loss of funk, steam, or swing here.
