Live, loud and totally lo-fi. With a number of tracks emerging from jams, their sound is truly raw and real.

notes

Skinny Alley is one of India's premier bands whose musicians are amongst the most experienced and versatile in the country having played with prime bands over the years in a variety of situations. They are equally adept at several genres of music – pop, dance, funk, rhythm and blues, country, classic and contemporary rock, jazz-rock and progressive rock.

Songs from the Moony Boom, their second album was released nationwide in January 2008, by Counter Culture Records an independent music label that is dedicated to providing a platform for artists and bands to release their music, enabling them to reach wider audiences.

The songs on the album somehow fit the manner of recording. They are real and raw and many have emerged out of jams. One tune, especially, Shape Your Life, was created as the band jammed to get recording levels and they decided to keep that very cut without any kind of editing. Only the vocal was added later.

Skinny Alley is Jayashree Singh (vocals), Amyt Datta (Guitar), Gyan Singh (Bass), Jeffrey Menezes (Keyboards) and Jeffrey Rikh (Drums). The album has been produced by Amyt Datta, Gyan Singh and Jayashree Singh. It has been mastered by mastered by Eddie Miller (ex-Prince, Action Figure Party, Metric, etc.) in Los Angeles.

I know members of this group personnaly having spent 3 years in Calcutta where they live. This album (cd) is a culmination of their fantastic repetoir of music that they have been playing together for many many year...The are a ture fusion group bringing together blues/jazz/rock/in a sound that is reminecent of old but becasue of its uniqueness is right in line with the 21st century. This is their second CD but unless you are in India it is very tough to get the first which, is different from this one but is very very good in its own right. Buy this and you won't regret it
