notes

SKALP aka Pascal Lemaire-A french artist,Composer,Writer,Arranger,Producer, singer & Keyboards Player.
SKALP realised many albums for French artists(Dance/House) ,and some tracks for Barbara Tucker,Chynna,Cerrone,D.Guetta,Geyster...etc.
In 93,With his Band "Sax Machine"(acid Jazz group),he did the 1st part of Herbie Hancock/The Brecker's Brothers Band and US3(The hit"Cantaloop").
in 98 a great meeting with WILLIAM CARTWRIGHT of "The court of miracles",changed everything.
William gave his voice on a SKALP's song,and then,it was a miracle.
A revelation between them.
From this time,he worked with many other talents, like JAYE PROCTOR for some lyrics,JAKI WHITREN(Will's mother)MELINDA WILLIAMS,C.CIL,T.SELLERS in Background vocals.
SKALP is now in his own universe,a french guy,but with a US musical culture..
GEORGE DUKE,DON BLACKMAN have written some compliments and their support for this album. It was a great reward for SKALP.
Not so many people love the Funk in France, but anyway,Today,SKALP can touch all the funk addict in the world...and now,let move your feet!
Peace & Love

  • Blown Away!!!
    author: Bonnie Cook III

I haven't jammed like this in years! As I was listening and dancing my ass off, I was reminded of all the funk bands back in the day, i.e., Lakeside, Slave, ConfunKtion, Dazz Band. Believe me when I tell you that NOTHING like this has graced these ears in a long time. True funk for the 21st century!! I can't get 'Chanana' out of my mind; the hooks have me hooked. Like I said, I'm blown away!!!

  • Totally awsome !!! A wonderfully surprising discovery for me !!!

Ooohh ... that's nice ... !!! So exciting to appreciate a bit more of SKALP's talent !!! Can't wait for the next album !!! My favorite being 'Walkin in the Groove' ... absolutely adore this groovy song !!! 'Play this game' for acid jazz feeling and 'For love' ... totally awsome !!! 'From my head to your feet' and 'Old School Tribute' are such powerful songs .. with that special funky feeling ... Keep up the good groovy work!!!

  • Funky Euro-Vibe
    author: Don Manor-www.kymverbal.com-Cincinnati, Ohio(U.S.A)

I'm lovin all of this...the Keys & effect sounds bring the 80's group the System to mind but more rhymic & Groovin'!! Keep doing this great sound!

  • Who says French don't funk?
    author: FredW

Have some groove with From my head to your feet... and you'll know French do not only breed wine... Each track is flavoured differently and tense; they are 16 (plus a starter and a cake) and none of them are fillings. I couldn't buy it as it already sold out so shortly after its first release... But I'll wait... SKALP deserves sucess!

  • AMAZING Old-School & Fresh FUNK BOMBS !!!
    author: Funkygirl

A MEGA BOMB : So excellent, inspirated, with various vibes... I had the honour to listen to this album before it's been released... And I'm still crazy about this record, made in our modern years but with an old school inspiration. A MUST TO HAVE... Not a surprise George DUKE and Don BLACKMAN like both those stuff. SKALP is inspired by the greatest funkiest artists... I can add Michael JACKSON's (Off the Wall period ;o)) influence on that record... Happy to see all funkateers can access it now... Support good music, BUY THIS CD !!!
