This CD is an invitation into the ecstatic experience that is kirtan. Sean Johnson's voice is the pure expression of Bhakti, which dissolves the Self in the Love of the Divine. WIth him are the mystical musicians that make up the Wild Lotus Band, who transform traditional eastern sounds into a musical experience that transcends all global boundaries.

This kirtan was recorded at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in New York City, shortly after hurricane Katrina sent waves of devastation across the Gulf Coast and grief across the hearts of the world. Sean and the band had just evacuated from their native New Orleans, raw from the experience of watching their beloved city battered. The Laughing Lotus Birthday celebration was transformed into a Benefit to help heal and uplift the lives of all that have been affected.

In the same way, this Soulful music, will not only make you want to get up and sing and dance with wild abandon but will also help to soothe your troubled mind and rekindle your loving heart.     This was recorded live, which is always a challenge, and in this case the sound quality is not great. But the passion of the artist and the audience is there in spades, and soon you're so wrapped up in the moment it no longer matters that the sound is a bit fuzzy. I doubt the deities mind it very much either. Great for singing along!

    I picked up the "Live" CD this weekend...That thing needs a warning label on it!!! When I was into track #3 about 11 minutes, I almost drove off the road...I am completly hoarse once again as I have bursted my vocal chords singing with complete ecstacy. I close my eyes and envision my days chanting along side you and your divine band. Thank you for the gift, now I can wonder around my house intoxicated with joy and love!
