Sirocco are a versatile three part harmony sister group from the beautiful rolling hills of Co. Kerry Ireland. Having performed for many summers in the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, the girls gained a love of their Irish music and folklore. "Black is the Color" is inspired by the love the girls have for their native land and traditions. It is a haunting album beautifully orchestrated with also many up tempo and contemporary beats to traditional songs. "Sally Gardens" and " Will You Go Lassie Go" are traditional Irish ballads but with a new twist, where as Danny Boy has the big ballad feel. It is an album with a difference sung by three voices with one unique sound as only siblings can manage.
Sirocco recorded "Black is the Color" in February 2005 and were then invited to sing for Governor Pataki at the Waldorf Astoria for St. Patricks' Day where they were well received. They performed for the Governor again in 2006 and sang the Irish National anthem in Times Square as well. The crowds response was awesome!
The sisters Fiona (22) Naomi (20) and Evangeline (18) as well as singers and performers, are songwriters at heart. They are currently working on their original album in the U.S. which will take Sirocco in a new and exciting direction. You can catch a glimpse of things to come on www.myspace.com/defyallmusic. Their beautiful voices as well as their blend of harmonies make these sisters stand out as a class act, no matter what genre they perform!!!! Watch this space! Watch out WORLD!

I was just wondering? Is Sirocco now DEFY, and have you just recorded an R&B song with the producer Lil Eddie called TELL ME TWICE? If it is it has amazing harmonies!!! Great vocals!! I love your Irish album too. If you ask me you guys could sing anything!!!

I love this album for it's beautiful harmonies! I have heard that Sirocco have changed their name to DEFY*. I was listening to a song yesterday TELL ME TWICE by DEFY* produced by Lil Eddie in the R&B genre. The harmonies in this song are amazing and I can see them going to the TOP of the charts with this song!!! Good Luck!!!

  • Beautiful Music !
    author: MusicTeeDon

If you had to put this wonderful work of art into a box, you would almost be inclined to classify it as fusion celtic - but then you would think twice - because both traditional and contemporary songs are found within, as well as some with a fusion of both. These lovely musicians have combined their Irish heritage with the contemporary sound of the millienium decade to bring you music that you will inspire you and bring peace to your soul or put a smile on your face. It might also make you wish that you too could have harmonized with your siblings to make such an awesome sound. I also think that these are the kind of young women who really deserve your support and admiration - these ladies are destined for greatness - far above the diva queens who make train wrecks of their lives every day for the public to feed on and kids to emulate.....This is a class act ! Definitely recommend this CD!

  • Very Fast service and an awesome CD in every way!

I ordered this CD for my bestest friend in the world whom has cancer. She says this CD is very therapudic and relaxing for her. Since it does what she needed it for, I think it is the best! Very awesome version of Danny Boy also!!.............THANKS!

  • Modern sounding celtic voice
    author: Jawss

Very good addition to the likes of enya/loreena/moya/celtic women genre. They have more of a modern sound which breathes new style into traditional songs like danny boy. Good mix of classics and patriotic tunes, only downside is that they are selling out by going pop as the new group 'defy'.

  • Found a Keeper!
    author: taterpie

I originally bought this for "mood" music at naptime with a bunch of toddlers. What I found was a CD that I could keep and treasure for quite a long time. I cannot believe that these are voices of teenagers! That type of talent is something to truly appreciate and share.

This is the best Celtic music I have been introduced to in a very long time! Not only are these girls beautfiul but that have such chemistry. Once listening to "Black is the Color", I was hooked and couldn't stop listening to it!!

  • author: Aisling

If you have ever heard these girls sing live you've been blessed to hear true talent. After listening to the CD the first time, I had it in my car for weeks and weeks, and still listen to it quite often. This is the beginning of something great and I can't wait to hear what they bring out next!!

  • Excellent!!!
    author: Lucy G., Queens, NY

These girls really know how to sing. Black is the Color and You Raise me Up are awsome songs. I can't wait to hear more of them. Step aside Celtic Woman, there's a new group in town with real talent.

  • Destined for bigger & better things...
    author: Paul D.

I think their voices are hindered by this Celtic music, I do like Black is the Color and You raise me up & I think it showcases their potential to belt out some really big hits. I'd love to hear them sing stuff other than Celtic music and I'd bet they'd be huge. I didn't care too much for the other songs except for these 2. But the talent is definitely there... no doubt they've got the whole package.

  • Bravo!
    author: Carmen

These are some very beautiful and talented young girls. Their voices are wonderful and CD is terrific. Black is the Color is a great song.

  • A Purrrr-fect Blend....
    author: Misha O.

This CD is a perfect blend of harmony and style. Black is the Color is my favorate song. The Corrs version sounds like someone stepping on my cat's tail (who told that girl she could sing?). Sirocco has real talent and beauty. I absolutely love them and want to see and hear more of them in the very near future.

  • Who are these girls and where can I find them????
    author: Tommy B.

I loved Black is the Color!!! Great song. I also heard the Corrs sing it and it was horrible. This version is 10 times better, at least they know how to sing!

  • It's a good thing!
    author: Mary T.

The voices of these beautiful young girls makes you just want to stand up and take notice. This CD is going to be a great Christmas gift. I hope to hear more of them.

  • Things that make you go hmmm....
    author: Anna Potchenko

Hmmm.... I was really surprised. This CD is pretty good. I've heard Celtic Woman but they put me to sleep. This CD is pretty uplifting and their voices are wonderful. Their harmonies are very together. It's a delight to the ears.

  • Wow!!!
    author: Sarah Fines

I was really pleasantly surprised to hear how wonderful they sound. This CD is really, really good. Celtic Woman look out! Their voices are phenominal and are ten times better! I'd love to hear them live with their harmonies.

As soon as I heard their stunning voices I was a believer! I would not be surprised if we see them on Oprah soon! They are lovely looking ladies, classy and talented. That is unheard of this day and age.

I just purchased this CD, and I absolutely can't wait to get it.There's no doubt that once their music gets out that they will be very successful. Perfect addition to the music scene. Love it, and I wish the girls the best, and much success.

  • AWESOME!!! "BLACK IS THE COLOR " IS ON MY XMAS LIST
    author: Audrey

I love the haunting sound of this CD...Its take you back to the Celtic countryside

  • BLACK IS THE COLOR IS THE BEST...!!!!!
    author: Jeanna

"Black is the Color" is a beautiful song. I absolutely loved it! I wasn't a big fan of Celtic music but I am now. Sirocco's voices are amaizing and their harmonies on all the other songs are tight. I've heard The Corrs do their version of "Black is the Color" and it pails in comparison. Sirocco's version is how it's supposed to be done!!!

  • Awesome!! What excellent singers!
    author: Caroline Givens

What amazing voices..I was not expecting this great of a sound.I cannot wait to get my copy of the new CD. I have always listened to Irish music and it was so refreshing to hear an up tempo and happy spirit of "real" irish music!
