SIMPLY ELECTRIC
author: Michelle Bong ELLE Magazine (Singapore)It might have been the Chemical Brothers who got us hooked on electronic sounds, but Silicon Sounds is taking bedroom sampling to a new level of cool. This homegrown threesome - Gay Messiah Jay, E.S.G and Cayn G - have taken the daring gamble of funding and equipment barriers faced by young hopefuls of electronica by producing Silicon Sounds "LIVE" in the Bedroom PT1.This seven-track debut album celebrates what the boys call the Religion Of Sound - with song titles like 'My Angel', 'Mullah:Revelation' and 'To Immerse The Baptism'.Inspired by world-renowned electronica musicians like Moby and Prodigy, Silicon Sounds manages to embrace the gist of experimental music, loaded with self-expression and individuality. They will release two other singles, 'Here We Come' and 'Your Decision' as well as a PT2 Album. -- Michelle Bong
'Live' In the Bedroom PT.1- Silicon Sounds Review
author: DJ NikNak HK Clubber.ComSilicon Sounds are an upandcoming group from Singapore. This album is the first of many releases the group plans to offer the music industry. The CD is a mixture of sounds and beats performed as the cd says in their bedroom live. Each track is artistcally created, producing mixed feelings and emotions as the cd plays. Full of originality and style makes the CD something new to all, so could be loved or not, depending upon if you are open to new styles of music. If you would try and compare this act to a performance in Hong Kong, then the closest group here would be the Digital Cutup Lounge. More information about the group can be found at: http://www.siliconsounds.org/index.html
Silicon Sounds 'LIVE in the bedroom' (Silicon Sound Records)
author: Adrian Wee Urbanite Magazine (Singapore) June 2002The debut EP from local homegrown electronica lads proves that home-made music is still very much alive though many of them remain pretty unheard of.'LIVE'in the bedroom, a 7 track debut EP sparks much promise for the lads of Silicon Sounds and the local scene.Very evident in throughout the EP is their influences from the dirty sounds of The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim.Starting with a dark and dirty vocal-sampled track 'My Angel', borrowing the vocals of local rapper J Luciano, the track is an intro into what Silicon Sounds is all about.Subsequently, the rest of the EP moves into more conventional programming, infusing dirty breaks with spaced-out tweaked strings and hip hop samples. This EP is pretty promising for a debut, it's always refreshing to have a listen to these local lads dish something out cos you never know what to expect. And it is certainly surprising to witness such talents within our midst.Get your copy now! -- Adrian Wee
