notes
Keyboardist/singer/songwriter Shrimp City Slim, based in Charleston, SC, is official ambassador of "Lowcountry blues & original songs". A fixture on the Carolina scene since the mid-1980s, he performs throughout the Southeast and overseas, both solo and with his band.
"Blues on the Beach", released in 1994, is perhaps the most beloved CD in his catalog...a spicy, all-original gumbo of piano-based blues peppered with musical flavors of the Carolina coast. This set includes "Charleston", a blues calypso celebrating the multi-cultural heritage of his adopted hometown.
For "Blues on the Beach", Shrimp City Slim used his regular band and some of the best sidemen in the coastal area, including gospel vocal backing from Tony & Company. National touring guests on the CD include the late Skeeter Brandon, Steve James, Armand Lenchek, and stringmaster Roger Bellow.
"BOTB" is exuberant, beachy blues & boogie that will put a bounce in your booties. The perfect musical memento for anyone who has ever set foot in Charleston and the South Carolina Lowcountry.
