notes
"Shooting Cars, Building Stars" was first released by Paul Phillips performing under the nom de plume Sheffer Stephens in 2002. His debut recording, it offers a blend of old school rock, traditional americana, and lots of in between.
"Come Home", the pending 2008 release of the new Paul Phillips Band, will feature a more jangly, rootys vibe and will be available late summer 2008. Touring will commence shortly thereafter.
Paul Phillips Band music is soulful, move your feet, clap your hand and sing along music. Neil Young, Wilco, J. Cash, Martin Sexton, The Jayhawks, Van Morrison, Robert Johnson, represent but a few notable influences, as well as the good Southern, Kentucky earth.
Paul Phillips Band performs with full band including acoustic guitar, drums, bass, electric guitar/lap steel, piano, and sometimes violin. Paul Phillips also performs as "Paul (Friend of Paul)" with an evolving line up of guest musicians accompanying him on tour in an acoustic duo format.
