Shawn's first cabaret show "Lovin' Life" debuted in February 2001 at San Francisco's illustrious Plush Room to rave reviews. After winning the 2000 Bay Area Cabaret Talent Search, San Francisco embraced Shawn Ryan as the newest jazz cabaret star to hit the scene. This dazzling performer combines classic standards and insightful comedy for an unforgettable evening of jazz and cabaret. Since his San Francisco debut, Shawn has released his first self-titled CD and toured with his trio over the West Coast to such venues as The Plush Room, Piaf's, Butterfly, Bubble Lounge, (SF) The Patio, Placido's, (NV) and The Duplex in New York City and now, being back in Alameda for the Holidays, Kelly's of Alameda. With a recent move to Los Angeles, this young performer's career in film and television is also blossoming before our eyes. Shawn can be seen in "American Pie 3" starring Jason Biggs, "The Job" starring Daryl Hannah, and the upcoming "First Daughter" with Michael Keaton.

Unabashed, honest-to-goodness talent!
author: Rick SkyeThe songlist on this CD would be daunting to anyone who didn't know exactly who he is. Shawn handles everything from evergreens to Star-identified material in the most direct and honest way and makes each song his own effortlessly. There are no vocal tricks or gimmicks here and that, in itself, is quite a feat in today's musical landscape. Emotional without being smarmy or coy, he floats over the luscious backgrounds. Of all the debut CD's I have heard recently, this one has the hallmarks of the start of a truly auspicious career. He sings love songs without changing the gender in the lyrics to suit traditional public tastes and can somehow have it go unnoticed until the 4th hearing. He understands these songs and his vocal color belies his youth. I play it at least once a day - it's become the friend I have over in the afternoon, the cozy companion I cherish at night.
I like the singing, honest . Solid trio!
