Described by MessianicMusic.com as “One of the Messianic Movement’s finest”, Sharon Huckel has been blessed with a voice that has touched many. "For Zion's Sake" is a classic that features two duets with international recording artist Paul Wilbur, musical back from seminal Messianic band, Israel’s Hope, and eight songs from acclaimed songwriter Steffi Rubin, author of the worship classic, “The Trees of the Field”.
"For Zion's Sake" is the first of three recordings from Sharon Huckel - setting a high standard for her future work. Sharon grew up in Philadelphia where she studied voice at the renowned Settlement Music School and began performing as a soloist at the age of twelve. Later Sharon would turn down a vocalist scholarship to Juliard - choosing instead to focus on raising her children and supporting her husband in ministry. God soon honored Sharon's faithfulness when Chosen People Ministries commissioned "For Zion's Sake". Expertly produced by Barry Rubin and anchored by the songs of his wife, Steffi Rubin, the team recruited Paul Wilbur and other members of Israel's Hope for the project. The result was a tour de force of classic Messianic worship that sounds as fresh today as it did when released 20 years ago.
Guitars, piano, clarinet, flute, drums and percussion all sparkle in this outstanding recording, while always supporting and complimenting Sharon's vocals. The Klezmer and Sephardic tinged "Be Thou My People" features a lead vocal from Sharon that moves from gorgeous to achingly beautiful when Paul Wilbur joins her on the second pleading chorus... "Call out to me and return to your God Israel".
The CD closes with another duet with Paul Wilbur on "We Are One Family" with a song that is perhaps the best (albeit accidental) wedding song in the history of Messianic music. "We are one family/We are in Messiah's family/Walking in love as He himself is love/We are one family".

author: Dolores TestermanI bought 3 Cds by Sharon Huckel. Courts of Praise, Tabernacle, and For Zion's Sake. They are all just wonderful! I wish I had known about them before - they should have been in my huge collection of Messianic music a long time ago! I highly recommend them. Dolores
