-Shannon
Recently named one of Rolling Stone's top 25 artists on MySpace, Shannon Hurley fits into the new line-up of artists who make quietly beautiful music. It borders on the edge of pop, with its Beatlesque piano and guitar hooks, and more heartfelt singer-songwriter fare. Think Sarah McLachlan, only sunnier.
This Indiana-born musician has been playing music all her life, being brought up in a family of singers. Picking up piano at age 8, she then moved on to trombone. She graduated with a music degree from University of Colorado at Boulder, where she became the stage manager for Fox Theatre. After working with Julian Lennon, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Rufus Wainright, she became enamored with songwriting. She studied with Pat Leonard (hit songwriter for Madonna) and moved to Los Angeles is 2001. Shannon is a sought-after session musician and spent 2005 touring with Universal Motown artist Brie Larson. This has given her the opportunity to open for Jesse McCartney, Gwen Stefani, The Black-Eyed Peas, and Gavin DeGraw.
Currently she is playing keyboards for international artist Marina V. In addition to these accomplishments, she is also co-founder for "Don't Call Us Tori!", a showcase for quality women singer-songwriters. These shows are held in L.A. venues such as the Hotel Cafe, Knitting Factory, and Tangier. Shannon is endorsed by YAMAHA. Her full-length debut. "Ready to Wake Up", will be officially released on Nov. 5, 2007.

Mellow 70's Vibe!
author: Corey Leland of The Insects Rock!I'm biased. Shannon has been a friend and occasional band member for the past several years. She's even the only voice besides mine to appear on each of the four INSECTS ROCK! CDS. As for "Ready to Wake Up"...This CD is fantastic! Shannon's music is as good as she is nice. Some of these tunes would be great in a feature film or television. Reminiscent of Karen Carpenter, Carole King but this is the real and honest Shannon Hurley. Husband Ben provides inspired bass playing and together they represent the songs well live. These songs stick in your head. They are heart-felt and you will enjoy them very much.
Another treat from Shannon
author: Rob BergerCheck out my review of Shannon's latest CD "Ready To Wake UP" (YES it is a "wow"). But you also need to buy her other two CD's so that you too can own the trifecta of musical perfection! Like a gem her CD collection sparkles with brilliance and highlights a flawless and beautiful voice.
Lovely!
author: John MeadowsA beautiful voice, and well crafted songs -- I am looking forward to hearing more!
Imaginative!
author: AnneBest I've heard in years! Very new and imaginative. New harmonies and tonal visionary. Keep it coming!
Great cd!
author: RaulThe songs on this cd are very well put together and you get a sense of sadness from it. I love sad songs that uplift me at the same time. Very rare you get music to do that and this one has that type of feel to it. I hope to hear new music from this artist very soon, keep up the great work!!
