Shakeb Hamdard is a native of Kabul, Afghanistan and shot to fame in 2005 as part of program called “Afghan Star” made by Aria Production exclusively for Afghanistan’s most popular TV station, Tolo TV (www.tolo.tv). The show started slowly but started getting more and more viewers and by the finals, had massive ratings throughout the country.

At the time, Shakeb Hamdard was living with his mother and sister, his father having passed away during the years of war in Afghanistan. Coming from a poor family and being relatively quiet and humble, he found his way into the heart of millions of viewers across Afghanistan and the regions.

He was eventually announced the winner of Afghan Star’s first season winning $3000 in prize money and a trip to Dubai which was filmed and aired on Tolo TV. Subsequently, he released a single called “Gul Dana Dana” which was a very popular hit in Afghanistan.

Since the start of 2007, Shakeb has been working in Barbud Music’s Kabul studios on “Mashaallah” with renowned music composer Ahmad Jawad Karimi. This CD is the culmination of a lot of hard work and countless hours recording and re-recording songs and music. The CD also includes a song composed by Shakeb himself.
