notes
"It Had Better Be Tonight", tears down the wall that separates pop and jazz. The disc swings into action with the six-horn urban soundscape blast of "Big City"; travels through a post apocalyptic fantasy land of "13 Men" and brings it home with the eight cylinder big-band rave-up "Please Don’t Talk about Me When I’m Gone".
Gene Stout, Pop Music Critic of the Seattle Post Intelligencer, describes "It Had Better Be Tonight" as “Well executed classics which Serio performs beautifully.”
The music is classically vintage for the Now and places Serio in the ranks of contemporary artists putting their own unique spin on classic American standards such as Madeleine Peyroux, Michael Buble and Diana Krall.

Great,, Classical Jazz Sound
author: Mike Serio (no relationship to the artist)I listened to this CD three times in a row immediately after receiving it. It has wonderful vocals that range from the classic jazz sound of the 30s through 50s. Miss Serio has a wonderfully tight band behind her as well - top notch musicians for sure. A definite must for all jazz vocal fans. I highly recommend it.
Sweet Cabaret Vocals!
author: Bernie DoudWhat a fantastic CD. Cheryl shows off her sexy, provocative, reminiscent voice with some great pieces that have been largely forgotten in our "pop" society. Thanks for bringing me back. I always feel joyful when I listen to your voice.

Hot Dossier of Intriguing Musical Documents
author: Tejas TunesCheryl shows off her hot pipes in this song cycle reminiscent of the hot tension between East and West during the early 60s Cold War. Producer / arranger / pianist Hans Brehmer expands the usual Female Vocalist formula by taking such tunes as 13 Men, Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone, and Love Potion #9 into the unexpected direction of psychedlia and Fireside Theater-esque sound design. If only more female jazz vocalists would follow Cheryl's fun and imaginative direction, jazz could actually become the "popular" music it once was.
