notes

Pol Sembrano is a child prodigy who learned to play the piano at age 4.

Although having the skill to play Bach and Beethoven pieces, Pol (pronounced "Paul") decided to express himself through his own music.

In the mid 1990's, after playing keyboards in several bands in both the east and west coasts, Pol embarked on a solo career.

In 1996, a two song demo garnered radio airplay in Seattle which eventually led to a full-length release.

"Disconnected" tells of Pol's isolation and detachment from certain people and situations.

"There are times when you want to share personal space with a certain someone who don't feel the same way you do.

Also, there are those whom you wish would go away and when that doesn't happen you begin to distance yourself".

  • Excellent Electropop similar to Cosmicity
    author: Synthpop.net

This is the 2000 debut album for Pol Sembrano, a solo artist based in Washington. To be honest, I couldn't find any more current information for this artist beyond the release of this album, as the link for his homepage is currently not working, and the only info I could find was here on the Cdbaby listing for the cd. Lyrical content-wise, the first artist comparison that came to mind was Cosmicity. Like Mark's former project, Pol Sembrano has a very personal touch to every song, making it feel like you're listening to more of a musical diary rather than a set of disconnected songs. Also like Cosmicity, Pol Sembrano can write some excellent pop hooks. "World Of My Own", "Pedestal", "Why On Earth", "Meet Me There" and "On That Day" are all excellent songs, and each one could justifiably see a single release, I think.  For a debut album, this 50 minutes of music is very, very polished and solid. It's disappointing that talent such as Pol Sembrano's has gone unnoticed. This is a very good album, and definitely worth your time!

This is an excellent CD. Catchy melodies and beats, and moody, personal lyrics. Pol deals with frustration and pain without sounding angsty.
