notes
The debut recording for Will Sellenraad, coming on the heels of the closing of one of New York's finest jazz clubs, Visiones. It was there during the mid-1990's that Will held the house gig for several years, During which time he developed a great musical rapport with fellow native New Yorker Eric McPherson and Kiyoshi Kitagawa. Streams is the fruit of their incredible musical kinship, also featuring the artistry of gifted pianist James Hurt, courtesy of Blue Note Records.
About the band:
Eric McPherson's drumming is the fire by which respected artists such as Jackie McLean and Abraham Burton have choosen to set their music ablaze. A viruoso of syncopation, he is truly one of the great drummers of this generation.
Kiyoshi Kitagwa is one of the most dedicated and respected bass players to have hit the New York Scene in the last 10 years. His swingin' and rock solid rhythms have graced the stage with Jazz royalty such as Kenny Garrett, Jimmy Heath, and Kenny Barron.

A River runs through it
author: 'Frisky' Freida lepkowiczYou should listen to this cd immediately...especially if you are going on Dr. Joshi's 3 week detox program. I was and did. This is so cleansing to soak up these magnaminous selections. It also takes me back to when Gephardt was serenading me during my second year at college. My dorm room was darkened(unless you count the silouetted candle lights and my fastly blushing cheeks). I was passively moved and, quite obviously, resisting the charms of his frugal guitar. That differs from Streams. Sellenraad's beautiful masterpiece: complete with his 4 vivacious originals. I awake in the night after falling asleep to song 4. I am in Spain and being caressed by a local brute. However;with Sellenraad Trio's Streams...i am afloat on cuddly clouds. Remeniscient of a rain storm last fall. Song 1 is pulsing and ticklishly persuasive. This trio is definitely shimmying and efficacious. Like the falling leaves along the shores on the cover. This is art work and the essence of life. Like a passionate embrace without the eager clumsiness. I believe in Streams to launch a romance or to start a yoga class. By this cd before it goes out of print!

author: Andrew Scott"...sophisticated harmonic thinking and a modern approach." "As a guitarist, Sellenraad has an abundance of techinque, as his execution of challenging lines on "Pendulum" displays. However, there is an absence of grandstanding, and one always hears music first."
