In the past few years the taste of today's music lover has broadened, where rockers are now listening to everything from Busta Rhymes to Carlos Santana and hip hoppers are sampling everything from Metallica to the Dave Matthews Band. With this in mind 8 individuals, from completely different backgrounds, came together to create the only band thus far with the ability to satisfy them all. Seed Is. . . has created an original musical arsenal that encompasses the full spectrum of musical tastes. Some might ask, Isn't it difficult to categorize a band that displays so many musical styles so well?, but if you ask any 'Seedling' their response would simply be 'why do you need to? It's all good. . . .'
Playing with the likes of James Brown, Steel Pulse, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Seed Is. . . has always turned every diverse crowd into instant 'Seedlings'. Seed Is. . . has the ability, to make a man wearing a business suit loosen his tie and groove until he's shirtless, to make a barefoot Phish fan flail around in circles to their hearts content, to make b-boys take over the dance floor with break dance battles of old, to make a tattooed rocker bang his head so hard he almost sprains his neck, or makes a raver reel to the effects of musical ecstasy.
After reviewing Seed Is. . .'s 17 track debut CD, a local radio DJ exclaimed, 'Damn, there are at least two good singles that can be released on every type of radio station in this market.' That statement alone says it all about Seed Is. . . You can sell the most units and pack venues by being able to tap into every type of market, drawing fans from every ethnic, financial, and cultural background. Seed Is. . . has done this and will continue to in the future.
Seed Is. . .'s formula for musical success is it's ability to draw from the diverse backgrounds of all 9 of it's members. The Seed Is. . . family consists of, soulful bassist and vocalist 'Nik Dawg' who conveys the soulful delivery of Nina Simone and raw emotion of Sinead O'Connor; folky funk acoustic guitarist and vocalist 'Buttafly' whose delivery is a silken N'Dea Davenport and a rhythmic Ani Difranco; conscious spoken word artist 'Mike Peace' who possesses the timeless relevance of Gil Scott Heron and the skills of KRS One.. ; the bluesy horns consisting of trumpet player 'Big T' and saxophonist 'Big Daddy Rich' who are reminiscent of Brass Construction and The Jazz Allstars; the earthy guitarist and vocalist 'Biggs' who is influenced by the likes of Chuck Brown and Peter Tosh; the wild percussionist and drummer 'Dawg Face' who is an extreme mixture of Tito Fuente's ethnicity coupled with Lars Ulrich's straight rock; and finally the funk drummer and percussionist 'Jon Jon' who will take any new style and freak it like Art Blakey.

author: AllisonI am enjoying the CD. It reminds me of when I used to see them when we lived in Virginia. They are one of the few bands, though the CD rocks, that is even better live. That is very rare! Seed Is, is seed for the brain, body, and soul.

All of the musicians really know how to blend several mediums of music into powerful, soulful lyrics and a unique sound. Everyone should check out their stuff, you will not be disappointed!

author: Kyleen KendallIF the strians of horns could represent thoughts running through your head this CD could set your cerebral cortex free. It's loose interaction thorugh the generes of the musical spectrum fuses into a supremly unique sound which is completly grooveable and fun. Without mentioning the emotive vocals and lyrics in range from insightful to playful I would recommend this CD to anyone who...well, make that just anyone.

author: Vinson EarlI cant believe that you can get all this slamming music on one CD. I have to keep checking my car stereo to make sure it's the same CD playing. God Must be a women will take you to Heaven and have Converstion, I could go on but Im not. If you don't buy this CD I feel sorry for you. Best Inidie CD I ever bought........(Vinson)
