notes

Seamus Kennedy, originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, has been entertaining audiences all over the United States for the past 27 years. With a ready wit and a vast store of songs, he travels from Alaska to Florida, Maryland to California, performing for audiences which range from Popes and presidents to bartenders and bricklayers, from college students to kindergartners.

"In every dealing that I have had with Mr. Kennedy, he has been indeed fabulous. My highest recommendation is provided."
~ Kim Gardner, U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA

In concert or festival, in pub or club, in colleges or high schools, Seamus Kennedy has the repertoire and the ability to make folks forget their cares for a while, to relax and enjoy themselves. He encourages the crowd to sing along to silly lyrics and daft ditties or act out the choruses of children's songs. When he plays a lively Irish jig or a reel, Seamus will often coax someone to jump up and dance to the music of his guitar or bodhrán - to the delight - and often amazement - of their friends. His audience participation songs and tongue-twisters have amused the ablest of participants and the nimblest of tongues.

"His rapport with the crowd provides entertainment above and beyond that of a normal singer."
~ Irish Insider, Rochester, NY

Seamus has an endless supply of rib-tickling jokes, stories and one liners which can leave an audience breathless from laughing so hard. Many a crowd has gone home from one of his shows giggling to one another, "Do you remember the one about...?" (Ask him to do the routine about Moms And Kids, the Nuns, or Murphy and the Snails.).

"When he sang "The Town I Love So Well", he owned everybody in the room."
~ Tony Hynes, Fir Dóiteán

But the Irish have their serious side too, and when Seamus performs one of the more somber ballads such as Tommy Sands' "There Were Roses" or Pete St. John's "Dublin In The Rare Old Times" you can hear a pin drop as the words sink in. That moment of silence before the applause can raise goosebumps. Seamus' greatest influences have been the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, the Dubliners' Luke Kelly, and the Irish Rovers, so it is no surprise to find many songs that they made famous, such as "The Wild Colonial Boy", "The Wild Rover," or "The Black Velvet Band" in his performance. So come and enjoy the music and mirth of one of Ireland's most popular exports - Seamus Kennedy!

I got what I expected, great music and story telling! I listen to this and other Seamus CD's in the car while driving, helps to start my day and rids my mind of work on the way home. My dad was born in Ireland the 2 songs related to leaving Ireland get me thinking about what it must have been like for him and my grandparents. Wish I developed an interest in my ancestery before they all passed away, so many questions I have for them. I atetnd the Irish Music festival in Muskegon each year to listen to him! Keep coming to Muskegon Seamus, even though you thought you were in Siberia Friday night!

An excellent variety of traditional songs, jokes, and some of the funniest songs I've ever heard. My favorite...Old MacDonald's Deformed Farm.

Great CD, Seamus Kennedy is hilarious and will make you forget any troubles you might have. I recently caught him at a Celtic festival in Pennsylvania and he was terrific so I bought a CD there. Wasn't enough So I ordered two more from CDbaby. Everyone I play the CD for has a blast.

  • The Best Mix of Traditional Irish Music and Humor
    author: Tiffany J.

I loved this CD! Not usually a big fan of "live" tracks, but this one is great and the laughter in the background just adds to the fun. Seamus has a wonderful voice that is perfect doing traditional ballads as well as his satirical numbers - and his jokes and the way he tells them makes it impossible to not burst out laughing. The "Old MacDonald" song is one of my personal favorites from the CD, but the whole thing is just awesome. I listen to it over and over and it never gets old.

  • Excellent CD

This is the first Seamus Kenedy CD I ever heard. He has a wonderful voice that is a pleasure to listen to. The songs are a great deal of fun and the jokes mixed in between the songs were a nice bonus. You really should give this CD a try.

My kids sang "Old Macdonald had a deformed farm....." for days. This CD makes you want to run down to your local pub for a pint and a good old fashioned sing a long. We loved the ballads and laughed at all the jokes.....

  • catchy and funny songs, remind me of seeing seamus at hunter mountain
    author: stacey

every year my friends and i looked forward to going to the irish festival at hunter mountain in new york, just to catch all of seamus's show and have a couple of beers. we had so much fun, i especially love concrete road and old mcdonalds deformed farm. i now have a son and a baby on the way, so its not as easy for me to go and party at the festival. so i figured id buy the cd's and enjoy them at home, i even bought the kids cd. these cds have all the songs i remembered plus more.i wish seamus could be at every party, then it would be guareented a good time.

  • Outstanding! Makes me cry & laugh.
    author: Rory

The selections on this CD are terrific. They bring back memories and good feelings. This is a replacement for the one my son borrowed and kept. (He may DJ techno music, but his heritage still calls him, and the music does "take him home.")

  • Listening makes one feel like being in Ireland
    author: Bob Nichols

Heard live performance in Savannah at the Irish Fest and also again that night at Kevin Barry's Irish Pub. Between both, it included all the songs on the CD. Had to have my own copy, listen to it often and appreciate the serious music as well as the comedy. My personal thanks to Seamus Kennedy for being such a wonderful performer.

  • Just like being in an Irish Pub
    author: B-Bob

We heard Fishing for Chickens on Music with Moskowitz and bought the CD for the humor songs. We were more than pleasantly surprised to hear the live recordings of all the pub music and ballads, along with the jokes and funny songs. This CD has a nice blend of tunes and talk, just as if you were sipping a stout, watching him play in a pub.

  • Saw performance in Savannah - had to buy cd

We saw your performance at Kevin Barry's in Savannah and laughed so hard we couldn't breathe. The cd is as funny as that and the music is great. Thanks.
