notes
"THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE HERE IS THE VOICE - a gravelly, deep, strong storyteller of a voice. He could turn the alphabet into something bluesy and emotive . . . This is raw, acoustic stuff throughout . . . It hurts and it hurts real good." - Eliot Popkin, The Muse's Muse
SCOTT TURCHIN left his home in New York's Queens Borough on a "mission from God": to go to California to create a unique blend of Southern roots rock and reggae music, with a feel for blues, jazz, samba and other World musics, expressing the early influences of folksingers like The Weavers and Limelighters to poprockers Cheap Trick, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Elvis (both of 'em), the Beatles, and later on Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff and UB40.
With and without his band, THE SCOTT TURCHIN BAND, he has played (on guitar and piano as well as voice) most acoustic venues in the Los Angeles area, including opening for Harry Dean Stanton at The Mint, doing shows at Rusty's, The Gig, LunaPark and Scruffy O'Shea's, as well as acted in television, films, voiceover and stage. He is proud to release his first CD: SCOTT TURCHIN, a cool collection of "live" studio takes which CDBABY gave its "Editor's Choice" in both Reggae and Roots Rock!
Scott and his band can be seen at various venues in the Los Angeles area in 2003 while he puts together the second CD.
There are more tunes on his other website, but for nine bucks, why not take the plunge NOW and dig the music the way it's meant to be heard! Just hit the little green capsule thing above that says "ADD TO CART". Thanks!

When Is The Next One Coming Out???
author: Ken JonesFive stars for this amazing album. I heard good things about this guy and wanted to check it out. I'm so glad I did. I haven't stopped playing this CD since I first put it in my deck. This is the deepest, rockinest, most soulfoul mix of music that I've heard in a long time. It's so good. I want to compare him to some of the greats but he's got his own totally unique sound that has to be heard to be believed. Thanks for the great tunes man. You've got a new fan here.
Amazing music!
author: SarahThis is such an amazing CD. I've been listening to it repeatedly since I received it in the mail a few days ago and I can't get enough! Upon every listen I discover something new to draw me into the music. I couldn't narrow it down to one or two favorite songs, I love them all.
Refreshing.
author: LadySidney57Refreshing, original...
You will love this CD!!!!
author: Jacqui HylandIt just doesn't get any better than this! I love this CD! Well, I love this artist. I've been waiting for Scott to release a CD for ages. I've followed his career here in Los Angeles for years, and am thrilled that he's released this album. If you like reggae, folk, roots rock, and male artists with smooth, richly textured voices, whose lyrics are passionate and filled with feeling, then this is the CD for you. I love 151, and Cathy is so sexy and hot, it's hard to remember a song that captures that kind of honesty, intensity, and raw desire coming from a male POV. The songs on the album that aren't included here are all defnitely worth buying the CD for and playing again and again. It must ahve been hard to pick four to put up here for us to listen to, they're all that good! A great CD to listen to in your car with the top down and the stereo blasting. A great CD to make love to. May God give this powerfully talented, sensitive, totally amazing singer-songwriter a big break soon!
