notes

Scott Howard's CD Lucky One, has rendered him #1 status from New York on mp3.com. He is one of a very small number of unsigned artists on the mp3 site who has charted alongside such major acts as O-Town, David Bowie, Elvis and Sugar Ray. His songs have topped their charts. Give It Up and I Need Your Lovin' were mp3.com's #7 pop/rock and #2 adult contemporary songs in the country. Out of over one million songs, Give It Up climbed to #14 overall on the entire mp3.com site landing on the coveted Top 40 chart. Scott was featured in Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine with a great review that says he is "...the real thing and ...a distinctive talent."

Mr. Howard's captivating songs express universally shared feelings. His exuberant voice emanates the sincerity of his heartfelt lyrics and he has received outstanding critical acclaim. Billboard Magazine said it perfectly: "...an adept storyteller... his voice soaring, free and terrifically textured... is among the best we've heard. Howard reflects on those emotions that make life an ongoing adventure...A singer/songwriter talent to watch. Bravo!"

The songs on Lucky One, born from Scott's heart and soul, have been heard on college and public radio stations across the country such as WNYU (New York tri-state area), KASU (U. of Arkansas), KRVS (New Orleans) and WLBH (Illinois). They run the gamut of human emotions. Sometimes uplifting, sometimes sorrowful, the stories declare the passions and desires of all people. Deserve You tells the tale of the perfect love affair, and the wonder of attaining an amazing mate and Somewhere Johnny is the uptempo tune of a hopeful starving artist, who leaves a dream to start a nightmare. All Scott's songs span different aspects of the pop genre from melodic to funk rock. These are the songs reminiscent of Billy Joel, James Taylor, Elton John and George Michael- the songs that are true for all time - the songs that audiences long to hear more of on the radio.

Scott brought enormous talent together to produce Lucky One. Jon Gordon engineered the CD and played multiple instruments on select tracks. Previous to working with Scott, Gordon provided musical direction for Madonna and Suzanne Vega. Multi-platinum contributor William "Prez" Bush also applied his talents and great experience to the CD. Bush has worked for Barry Eastman, Maxwell, and on the Jason's Lyric soundtrack. (Bush once commended Scott for "finding true artistry by not following trends, and staying musically true to himself".)

Scott was born in New York City and discovered music at an early age. When he was little he would listen to his parent's record collection and was introduced to names he still values and is influenced by - - Elton John, Billy Joel, The Eagles and Carole King, to name a few. As for contemporary influences, Scott admires Marc Anthony for paving the way for talented male singers that have a story to tell. In a world of highly produced CD's where style rules over content, Scott's soulful, guy-next-door style is what the public is craving. His are songs that we all can relate to - - his are the songs that become classics.

Scott is currently in production on his sophomore album. Scott is a member of ASCAP, NARAS and NACA.

I love this CD. The songs are fabulous and catchy. I move to the upbeat ones and I sing along with all the songs. This CD is a hit. We should be hearing more of it.

  • Sincere songwriting and a voice that touches the stars!

Scott Howard is indeed the lucky one, posssessing both the writing and vocal skills to deliver pristine pop melodies. There are great songs on this CD, particularly, "Running In The Rain," which sounds like a Jim Steinman epic. "Deserve You" is in the vein of Savage Garden -- simple and lovely. Hey, this guy's got the goods.
