notes
With his roots in Bluegrass Music, Scooter Muse has been priviledged to win nine State of Alabama & Tennessee Valley Championship titles on the 5 string banjo for both for both bluegrass and Old Time styles.
After discovering the incredible world of Celtic Music about 25 years ago, and learning a flood of traditional jigs and reels on the banjo, he began to explore the Celtic domain of open tunings for the guitar and from 1994 till 2002 was founder and leader of one of the country's finest Celtic bands, The Full Moon Ensemble, touring the US, Canada and Scotland.
After the FME went their seperate ways in December of 2002, Scooter was proud to join the longest running Celtic band in the South, Henri's Notions, after being a big fan of the band for many years.
"Saddell Abbey" is his first solo guitar CD featuring 14 tracks of music. The CD includes 12 original compositions for acoustic guitar including music set to the poetry of Robert Burns, and 3 songs by the Full Moon Ensemble's Allison King and Jil Chambless of Henri's Notions

Master Player Puts His Unique Talents Into Tunes - Old and New!
author: Paige Smith - Celtic Alabama NewsSaddell Abbey - A Solo CD Release from Scooter Muse Scooter Muse has taken his guitar on the road for years as founding member of The Full Moon Ensemble and most recently with Henri's Notions. His talents as musician and composer/arranger have been an important part of the success both bands have enjoyed to date. But now, with the release of his first solo recording, Muse's own music shares much of his journey on the Celtic music road. Saddell Abbey has all the earmarks of a project that has been a long time coming. The feet hit the ground on the first track, arms swinging, with his original composition, "Alex McKinven's", which was written for an energetic friend in Scotland. The progressive mood of the opener is echoed on "Walking the Mull" and "The Prawn Boats" which feature gently swinging rhythms in refreshingly melodic setting. He is joined on various tracks by friends and band mates (past and present) who share and enhance the music throughout. Muse's well-developed sense of melody is highlighted on his arrangements of the traditional Scottish ballad "The Broom of the Cowdenknowes" (featuring vocals from Alison King) and "I Live Not Where I Love" (sung by Jil Chambless). He has a keen feel for the complementary nature of the human voice combined with the voice of his instrument - and it shines beautifully on this recording. Many of the original compositions on Saddell Abbey mark Scooter's travels and encounters in Scotland, marking his fond impressions of both the landscape, the music and the folk. His rich styling and acknowledged talent on acoustic guitar allow him to create rich ambient atmosphere for the listener. For those who appreciate the best in a musical and lyrical journey - Saddell Abbey will transport you.
Music that introduces your soul to the magic of the Celtic spirit.
author: Donovan Murray-Music Director-Grandfather Mountain Highland GameThe quality of this work reflects the quality of the artist. Scooter delivers his music in a way that refreashes and uplifts the listener's spirit and reaffirms that Celtic music is one of the most passionate forms of music in the world. By incorporating Jill and Allison, two of the best female vocalist on today's music scene, with the magic of Burns pen, the results would surely bring a smile to old Rabbie's face. A must have for those that appreciate the spiritual impact of what is Celtic.
A True Original Masterpiece, A Must Have For Any Music Lover
author: Jessica Tompkins, ASCAP NashvilleSaddell Abbey truly sits far above the rest. It's a remarkable project, filling one's soul with peace...pure bliss.
An evocative collection of original acoustic material
author: Greg MacDonald, Pipe Major - Keith Highlanders Pipe BandI really enjoy this CD. The tracks invite the same feelings that Scooter brings out in his live performances. I like the way he has put his own mucical background together with the Celtic traditions. Even in the simplest of tunes where there is only his guitar playing you get a sense of the story of his inspiration. I also like the novel approach to Burns' poetry. The vocals by Allison King and Jill Chambless are a great addition as well. The only thing missing for me is hearing him tell the story about each piece.
