notes
Elvis Costello once said, "talking about music is like dancing about architecture." We couldn't agree more so here's the 'Reader's Digest' version.
The Scones' debut release "Do You Hear?" is filled with ten pop songs designed to make you hit the repeat button on your CD player.
You'll find cool harmonies, well-turned phrases, and melodies that you just can't get out of your head.
If you like Crowded House, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and the aforementioned Mr. Costello, you'll love the Scones and we'll love you back.
We could go on for hours but it's better if you find out for yourself. Cheers!

The Squeeze comparison is dead on.
author: R. McHoneThere are at least 4 classic songs on this cd. The others are just great.
One of the Truly Best Bands Around!Lyrics, Music, Looks, Style They Have it All!
author: Marlene A. RyanWhen I saw them for the first time at "Collins Irish Pub" In Flagstaff, not planning to ither...I was totally blown away...a band like this in Az...I am from the East Coast...Frequent NYC bands in the past. This band has stage presence, talent beyond, Martin's vocals unbelievable, they all mesh so fine together! Everyone of them are talented individuals, which ceates a powerful effect not seen today with most bands, musicians! I have to say that the Scones: Do You Hear? CD is a CD you can play over & over, and then some! Catchy lyrics, with up-beat music, keeps you wanting for more! It every bit of a good thing...I am so impressed with these guys...I have to say if you have the chance to see them, don't pass it up. You'll always have a great time, this band sees to it. They give all to their audience; you can feel the love baby! Go out to see them... you won't be sorry, you'll be looking for their concert schedule again and again....If I could give them a "10" I would. They deserve every bit of it! Again the "Scones" have the lyrics, music, looks, style to match, they have it all!!! Personally I can't say enough! Martin's vocals truly deliver! The band has so much stage presence... very talented group, musically wise, personally wise & more! It will be a night to remember with the "Scones!" Truly one of the Greatest Bands Around!
Put these guys on the radio!
author: MicheleIntelligent lyrics with catchy melodies. You'll find yourself singing along almost immediately. Proof positive that pop music needn't be dumbed-down and sugar-coated to be palatable.
Sound alot like Squeeze
author: VinnieNot sure about comparison to Toad the Wet Sprocket. These popsters sound just like Glenn Tilbrook and Squeeze. Can't get Everyday's a Saturday and She's a Lot Like You out of my head. Stellar vocals, great pop sound, won't be trading in this CD.
excellent wordplay and snippets of biting guitar hooks
author: BeazleThe lyrics are filled with sly phrasing that are a definite nod to Squeeze, and by golly, sounds a lot like them. Very clever! "A lot like you" is so sweet it gave me cavities. This is a band that is solid and filled with so many pop hooks you'll want one CD for home and one for the car. Highly recommended.
The Scones deliver a tasty power pop treat!
author: Hersh FormanGreat debut CD from this Arizona band. Full of heart, soul, sweat a lot of harmony and melody, Do You Hear is Power Pop at its best. You'll find yourself hitting the 'repeat' button many times on great tracks like Everyday's A Saturday, Alice Available, and A Lot Like You. Do You Hear? If not, have your hearing checked!
A perfect mix of catchy music and perfectly weighted lyrics.
author: DrewThis CD is the perfect album if you're looking for catchy tunes without the typical useless lyrics prevalent in pop music today. Instead, the Scones, and particularly Shears, have done an excellent job of speaking their minds without weighing down the music. It is the perfect mix of pop and meaning.
Strong Recommendation
author: Paul TaylorGreat CD. A very solid album with some really listenable, memorable tunes. I own it and I'd recommend it to anybody.
Do You Hear? You've Gotta Listen!
author: Michael ZadnikDo You Hear? will keep you listening over and over again. This CD is packed with strong lyrics, sugary melodies and solid instrumentation. A great summer CD to keep in the car. "Everyday's A Saturday" sets the tone and the CD takes off from there. Well worth a listen. Do you hear what I'm saying?
Do You Hear? How could you not?
author: David EbelStraight from Tempe, AZ - The Scones are a band you can't miss, or live without. If the CD doesn't convince you of the raw energy and talent of this band, you need to have your ears checked!
