To accurately describe the sound of the band, Stoney Clove Lane, we’ve coined a new term, Jamericana. Stoney Clove Lane is also a studio playhouse where sounds are tossed about, laughed at, gathered, amplified, distorted, erased, reinvented, mutilated then eventually assembled and settled on or flat out walked away from. Live, the band is now a multi-headed troop which at times swells out to a lush 9 but has on occasion found itself bashing it out as a 4 piece. Their third release, “Stay with Me,” on indie label Woodstock MusicWorks, embodies the spirit of the Catskill Mountains of New York, a locale the band calls home, and where, for the most part, good things happen. The SCL sound is fed by wormy guitars and an occasional keyboard caught in a shoving match over of a battered drum kit with a rubbery bass and random noise makers pasting the elements together. The words and vocals are honest, real, at times troubled, but with a chance at renewal always hiding behind the next chord change. Stay a while and check out the music.
