notes
"When an album begins with a jazzy piece about two loving lesbians and ends with a gospel-tinged ballad about loss and acceptance, you know that almost anything can be thrown into the middle...That's How It's Gonna Be is a giddy mix of moods, messages, and styles." wrote Neil Fagan in Performing Songwriter Magazine when Eric's album was selected as an Editor's Choice.
Spinning tales from his tangled inner web, Schwartz uses honesty, humor and irony to build a landscape where nothing is sacred, and everything is, well, a little different.
His debut album is receiving airplay across the country, including regular playing on Dr. Demento. Yet, it's not what you would call a 'novelty' album by any stretch!
"In dealing with diverse subjects with a singular talent, Schwartz not only demonstrates a command of many styles of music, but ushers in what will hopefully be a new breed of songwriters who can deal with traditional, modern, and postmodern forms with near-equal aplomb," explained Matthew Robinson in the Boston Globe.
"That's How It's Gonna Be" is a debut album that demonstrates the scope of Schwartz' talent, the kind that places him on a major festival stage or college campus one week, and in a comedy club in LA the next.
What can we say - the boy's confused? He'll tell ya he was treated for multiple personality disorder.
Don't believe him.
Eric knows exactly what he's doing - and fans everywhere are loving him for it!

author: Karen MayfieldThis album is delightful and very well-crafted. The music is perfect folk, but the lyrics and subject matter are surprising, clever, and touching.
My Favorite Eric Schwartz CD (until the next one comes out.)
author: Ruth LevensteinHattie And Mattie is a classic. Not a 'funny' song but rather a fun song that is so good because it is so real. I think this is where Eric's talent as a songwriter turns into genious. I will never tire of listening to this CD.
A fine album!
