    The fourth Danny Schmidt album I have bought and once again a collection of terrific songs sung by a master storyteller. I've been around quite a long time and heard some of the best singer/songwriters in the world and Danny deserves to be included with the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan and Guy Clark as one of my all-time favourites.

    please buy this cd. this is a masterpiece from a poet. this is not a normal album. danny is not a normal guy. you are in front of a genius and this is probably his best album. but all from danny schmidt is beautiful. buy all his cds. wherever you are, danny, i love your music. thank you.

    Enjoying the Fall: what a great title. Yes, do just that. Fall right in and settle yourself sweetly into the embrace of Schmidt's music. It's hard to imagine time better spent. Few artists have mastered that rare ability to tell a tale with the depth and eloquence of Schmidt; that trait alone makes this CD a must-buy. Couple that with his deftly-played guitar work and you've got yourself a CD you'll put on your top-10 list of Must-Haves. At humanity's sins he can moan like a dove, or tenderly murmur when his heart turns to love. Oops, didn't mean to get all mushy and poetic and stupidly cheesey. He's just that darn good! In short, one listen of The Fall will renew your hope that musicians still exist. They still write, they still play and sing. And all the while we, the lucky audience, delight in their every intonation.

    Enjoying the Fall stands beautifully against the output of the remainder of the universe. The first few seconds alone sold me. Schmidt proves in these seconds that he isn't a guitar player to be challenged. I've heard such great things about the Charlottesville scene, and discovered this disc after seeing Paul Curreri in concert in Oregon, who raved about it. From transporting stories (Oaxacan Vacation) to abstracting mind-benders (Sometimes A Friend, which Curreri actually is credited as singing on), this record affirms that the state of the world still contains hope. Buy this, and then buy the following record, "Make Right the Time." Curreri was right: You'll meet one of the most accelerating and gorgeous singers of our time.

    This might be the best album I've heard. The guitar playing is phenomenal and the lyrics, in terms of both the structure and the content, are beautiful. "Tennee, Mama, and Desiree" makes my heart hurt. Thanks, Danny. I regret that I didn't find you before you left Charlottesville and (maybe) music altogether. You are a rare treasure.
