notes
Saucy Monky: Los Angeles based indie-pop quartet featuring co-lead singers/guitarists Annmarie Cullen & Cynthia Catania. Annmarie was born & raised in Dublin IR, Cynthia & bassist Carson Cohen where raised in the States. This is their debut CD, released on the indie label olivoiL records (olivoiLrecords.com).
This CD is about great songs and great singing, in the traditional pop/ punk rock stylings of The Pretenders, U2, The Breeders, The Vines & The Beatles. Not only are there quick 2 minutes favs, but beautiful ballads w/ strings & loads of harmonies. Bonus track on CD, the dance remix of Disco Ball (Sun's Comin' Up), is a taste of great remixes to come!
Sandra Molina, GoGirlsMusic.com (USA): "Celebrity Trash is one of those rare CDs that once you put it into your CD player, you can't seem to take it out; it's that good."
Mike Morrison, HITS Magazine (USA): "Saucy Monky brings some of the strongest pop/rock I've heard in years. The lyrics and arrangements are spot on. And, while we get some crafty vocal interplay between Annmarie and Cynthia, the overall vibe is loose and could have come from the most happening of garages. Watch out for these guys!"
Kevin Courtney, Irish Times (Ireland):
"A fine blend of American and European influences."
Tom Dunne, Today FM (Ireland):
"A catchy harmony-driven breed of guitar pop."
The New Times (Los Angeles): "The most exciting & alluring band to have emerged out of Los Angeles in years".
